Elmira Soaring Eagles 2010/2011

Re: Elmira Soaring Eagles 2010/2011

Two just for your info Fargo is a coach not a captain. I think what Bdrock was saying is it does not take much to open a can of worms with the ncaa, maybe if you read the original post you can see what BD is saying. Even a bottom feeder may be able to help you with how to word these things. Something like changing the words Fargo and Vis to" the captains " and the phase " mandatory prison run" to " tradtional prison run" remember preception is reality to some.

Fargo was a movie...dont believe Uma was in it though unless my memory is failing me.

Your memory is bang on Prez... it was a movie based on a murder in Minnesota as I recall, but the leading lady was played by someone other than Uma... I do recall the lead in "Fargo" had extra long thumbs, much like Uma did in Kill Bill so maybe this has caused me the confusion... Think I'll check with Captain Fargo about this... wait, or is he the coach? I better check with Dogwatcher first......;) ;)

Re: Elmira Soaring Eagles 2010/2011

Just curious but does anyone ever remember starting a season without any exhibition games scheduled? Seems kinda strange...especialy this year with a gaggle of rookies in tow & a tough opening weekend coming up.

Looks as though the men's team is in the same boat with no ex's scheduled.

Feet to the fire I guess...

I suppose all the recent trips to the Final Four could be taking it's toll on the ECWH budget...Platty should be flush though. ;)

nah you're both wrong. it's just so that the purples don't get too down in the dumps RIGHT before the season starts. Might as well have SOME hope heading into that first weekend.

Rather than listening to the Cardinals piercing screech.... and plus the fact that this is so close to home, see below a sick shootout goal by Kaspars Daugavins of the Binghamton Sen's against the Hamilton Bulldogs the other night.

In my day...he would have got filled in before he got back to the bench!

Alas...26 days to puck drop....

Re: Elmira Soaring Eagles 2010/2011

I'm a newbie, but listening to my daughter whine about her writing assignments, I assumed that with so many rookies going through the Freshman Writing grind, the coaches were simply keeping their initial schedule as light as possible. :D

Welcome 92!

Ah yes the Freshman Writing Program...we are only one year removed from it and all the whining that went with it however can assure you that there will be a marked improvement in writing skills. All good as most that come through it can actually string a fairly good paragraph together without the use of U for you, IDK for I don't know & whatever else they are using these days. Excellent program and start for these kids as they will learn come hell or highwater, the penmanship required to take them through the next four years and beyond. Mark Twain wouldn't have had it any other way.

So now we got 5-4, 2-4 and 9-2. Next up is 10-4 ?. :D

P.S....This Writing Program is not unique to Elmira. Seen a couple of dissertations from our D over the last couple of weeks. Lots of blood, sweat and tears in that stuff. She spent a week writing an article, then the prof said to her, great article, now mess it up to see what you can make of it.

Another Newbie Freshman parent...ditto to ONT92's comment about the writing program! But, it seems they will survive like all the Freshies before them, and the benefit of new found writing skills will certainly serve them well! My D is LOVING "everything purple" and all that EC offers (except FR Writing...even the prison runs are preferable to the Sat. morning writing class! As 5 4 Fighting pointed out to me in an earlier post, there are such wonderful traditions to be experienced...Mountain Day, Octagon Fair, etc. Selfishly, I can't wait for parents weekend this weekend. My daughter is fine and dandy with only a couple of calls home, but the distance and lack of contact is KILLING me!!!
Also, it's so weird not watching hockey until the end of Oct...going crazy until the puck drops @ Norwich! I have to be satisfied following her past teammates in the recent DI contests.
Looking forward to seeing and meeting other parents in a week!

Lot's of numbers to keep track of now for sure...but only concerned with the final 4. :)

I doubt whether the Writing Program is unique to Elmira alone however I don't believe anyone else seems to go at it with quite the fervour that EC does.

It will inevitably be a topic of conversation with the fresh & their parents throughout the year...

Re: Elmira Soaring Eagles 2010/2011

Re: Elmira Soaring Eagles 2010/2011

Couldn't help but notice USCHO or somebody...has renamed the Oct 29/30 "East-West Classic" to the "*Norwich Classic" on it's schedule.

Presumably edited as to not offend any teams that are actually West of Rochester....
