Elmira Soaring Eagles 2010/2011

Re: Elmira Soaring Eagles 2010/2011

I will be eagerly watching on the road from Louisville, Ky., this weekend

Louisville, Kentucky? What in the blue blazes are you going to be doing down there this weekend Trots?

Core of the Four signing at Freedom Hall? ;)

Sounds like a bunch of mumbo jumbo when you should be in the CCCP watching hockey.

You going to the PrimeLink?

5 4 and DD, what were your thoughts on the way Elmira played last weekend? What did you think was good, and what was bad

Not the same type of speed EC used to have. To me they seemed a bit lost out there at times and searching for identity.

Bresler never really was able to assert herself around the crease where she picked up a lot of goals last year around the net.

Charron showed signs of being a sniper but she's got to just let it rip sometimes and not wait to try and lift it top shelf with a pretty shot all the time.

Sully didn't have her best game, but I wouldn't exactly say any of the goals were her fault. She just usually makes the save on one or two of them. Nothing she could do on Leclerc's tip. That was just a beauty. I don't think she ever saw the third goal until it was in the back of the net.

EC looked like a team that lost a lot of its top players from last year. Katy Walker was solid. Madison Johnston is a sound defensemen. Gotta find some offense though. Lauren Campbell looks like she could be a force when she gets her legs underneath her.

I agree with looking lost, and the speed is blotchy.....hopefully seeing them in person in a few weekends will give me a better look, and i hope their chemistry develops soon, there is really no time to ease into it.

should we be worried that we haven't heard from 5 4 in quite a long time?!?!

I feared this a lot. Emi Williams is a very capable goalie and ec just doesn't have much offense right now. Gotta get 2 points tomorrow or the eagles are going to be in a very deep hole.

Are you fearing it as a former eagle or as a now-cadet who's thinking last week's win doesn't look all that great now?

Both.

(BTW- I called before this weekend even started that the Elmira win wasn't going to be that great in the long run ;) )

Re: Elmira Soaring Eagles 2010/2011

Great hockey in Pine Valley Friday and Saturday! I would like to thank 5 4 and 2 for and the Elmira Booster Club for their hospitality.
I had not yet seen Manhattanville and am looking forward to their matchup with Trinity in Stamford on 11/23. I am sure the Valiants will chew their way through the ECAC-East and give Norwich a tussle for the conference autobid. Cote looked sharp in net on Saturday and they made the most of a couple of chances when the Soaring Eagles were sloppy with the puck to earn the victory.
I had seen Elmira up in Northfield a couple of weeks back and they look to be a dangerous young team. The ECAC-West is loaded with top teams, but I would not want to be in the bracket with the Soaring Eagles come playoff time. Charron is emerging as a real deal sniper (although she needs to stay out of the penalty box), and the Metcalf, Mitchell, Charron line has been able to carry the scoring load for the Soaring Eagles (17 out of 35 team points). I would love to get to Plattsburgh for the early season showdown 12/11!

Still waiting for Bresler to hop of the schnide.

One goal through six games after 19 last year.

I saw glimpses of Charron looking like a sniper at the East/West faceoff. IMHO, she tried to be a little too cute with it at times and always way looking for topshelf on her wrist shot. She certainly can dangle with the best of them though. Good call about staying out of the box. Can't have your best scorer with 12 penalties for 24 minutes in six games.

Anybody heard from our friend 5 4 lately? Is he depressed over the Woeful Eagles' thud back to earth this young season? Miss his pinheaded witicisms!!!
