Re: Kudos to RLM Sports

Re: Kudos to RLM Sports

Everett is THE worst. That's not a title I hand out lightly, either. I've seen many bad ones: John Messerschmitt, Murray Deathe, Doug Marrett, John Galipeau, the Murphy brothers, Baldwin, St. Louis, Mike Andrews. Many of these names go way back, and I've had my words with all of them. Andrews used to yell back at me. Dan Murphy has, too, before. Everett has no equal.

Article from the Star-Regret on EC Men's Hockey:

IMHO, I think we need to recruit players with a bit more grit. We can't have four "skill" lines and expect anything different in the playoffs. The best example I have is the Buffalo Sabres. Look at Gerbe, Ennis, Roy...those players are small and aren't going to score the ugly goals in front of the net while the other teams defense is abusing you. 95% of their shots against Oswego were from the outside, and no one was willing to drive to the net and make something happen. If anyone tried, they were easily taken off the puck. I do think MacDonald is a good goalie, but he had an off year and that happens. I think DeMelo will challenge for the #1 spot next season as he looked good in net during the first half.

Feola's officiating the BC/Minn semi-final. Good to see an Eagle finally make the Frozen Four. {smiles}

Pete v Scott

Pete v Scott

One of the most interesting games I've ever seen was between Mercyhurst and EC at the Domes toward the end of the 91/92 season. Mercyhurst had a forward - Scott Burfoot from Winnipeg - who was the most talented player I'd ever seen on the ice, other than Joe Nieuwendyk who played while I was attending Cornell. Mercyhurst would inevitably match Burfoot's line up with EC's C or D line, against which he would score seemingly at will.

So Thomaris employed a strategy where Feola would hit the ice each and every time Burfoot's line would, and Pete shadowed Burfoot all night, every shift over every square inch of the ice ... kind of a box & 1. The crowd - much larger, more vocal, and less sober than the current - picked up on the strategy, and would begin cheering and chanting as soon as Pete's right skate went over the boards. Since Feola could skate and hit, he took Burfoot completely out of his game, frustrated him into taking bad penalties, and EC won the game.

Re: Elmira College 2011-2012

Anyone remember any recruits to EC from the MJHL??
Mike Collins, has committed to the Elmira Soaring Eagles of the NCAA Div III. ... Collins is a 6`3", 182lbs, left handed forward from Victoria, BC. He was a trade deadline acquisition for the Kings. Collins split time in the 2011-2012 season between the OCN Blizzard and the Victoria Grizzlies in the BCHL before coming to Dauphin. In 49 games this season he collected 18 goals and 25 assists for 43 points.

“Mike is a big body that has good skill level. He should do well at the next level,” says Kings Head Coach and GM, Marlin Murray. The Dauphin Kings would like to congratulate Mike on his commitment and wish him all the best in the future.

Mike Haviland was relieved of his coaching duties with the Blackhawks today. Hopefully he catches on somewhere quickly.

Re: EC v OSU

I would think he will get a gig soon. For him he probably wants to take his time and see whats best for him to become a head coach. Might go AHL I would think

Re: Cortland @ EC

Good for him! Nice guy and earned this opportunity. Nothing beats running your own bench
