Re: Elections 2012:What unites us is greater than what divides us

If by "schooled" you mean ranting and raving like the other angry 75 year olds that hang around with my dad, angry that "their" country is turning browner and having all the sex that they never had while their own cocks no longer function, then yes, he "schooled" him.

Here's a tip for OP. Stomp your feet with more authority next time. Could work...

I am not 75, sonny. You strike me as having way more knowledge about old men's cocks than is really appropriate.

I love how, everytime I have a dustup with a member of the libtard ladies' chorale, the other ladies line up like East German diving judges, offering their "unbiased" opinions.

Romney just lost arguably his best candidate for VP.

Condi says no way.

Argued by whom? You? Dr. Rice has two degrees from DU and I am enormously proud of her. She was on our campus when she was 16. She was a protege of Josef Korbel, head of our Graduate School of International Studies. Korbel's daughter is Madeleine Albright. But she also made numerous public statements about what a great thing His Hidingsomethingness' election was. And although I understand her perspective and agree to a certain extent with her observations, these are hardly the kinds of statements that a presidential candidate wants floating around during the campaign. Because she and Romney would be questioned about those quotes every minute of every day. And think of the TV spots His Privilegeness would run, especially if her remarks were recorded. Besides, she doesn't want to be VP. She wants to be Commissioner of the NFL. Nobody votes for VP anyway.

Remember the days when the VP was whomever received the second highest number of votes?

Re: Elections 2012:What unites us is greater than what divides us

Off the top of my head, the most meaningful VP selection of my lifetime came when JFK chose "Landslide" Lyndon. There are many moments in history I'd like to have seen in person. And watching that weasel Bobby Kennedy crawl on his belly like a reptile to beg LBJ join the ticket (taking a demotion in the process) would be on the list.

Even by troll standards, someone's gone full retard. And you never go full retard.

Hey, Boswell. You and Brooky really ought to get a room.

If you use the term "weasel" with a Kennedy in Massachusetts, it is a Class 2 felony.

Politics does make some strange bedfellows, doesn't it?

As long as they don't have extradition I'm feeling safe. The conventional wisdom is those two hated one another. As much because of their different backgrounds and upbringing as anything else. Actually, it's not hard to see why. But give credit to Bobby, Jack told him to make the offer to Lyndon, and he did. After all, he got his start sharpening Roy Cohn's pencils, by comparison, crawling to LBJ was a walk in the park.

I'm reminded of the Buckley quip when asked why Bobby refused to debate him: "Why does bologna reject the grinder?"

By the way, it's primary night in the Empire State. You can follow the results here: http://elections.nytimes.com/2012/primaries/congress/new-york?hp

With 16% of the vote in, Charlie Rangel has a comfortable lead in his primary battle with Adriano Espaillat. The GOP is not running anyone in the District, so the winner can safely count on being in the 112th Congre$$.

Classic approach avoidance conflict. Charlie's one of my favorites. But he's also a two-bit crook in the mold of Adam Clayton Powell. BTW, Powell was responsible for the worst example of chicanery I can remember: he had his ex-wife on his congressional payroll, in an office in Puerto Rico! For six years. Doing "no work at all," according to congressional investigators.

Romney has a solid business background and could be believed when he says he understands the economy. He has the older white male vote. On the other hand, Condi is savvy on Washington, govt workings, international affairs and security. Condi fills the gaps that Mitt has. She's experienced and pragmatic. She's smarter than half the people on this board...combined. She's a moderate...entering into a battle for independents. And she's has huge name recognition and is very popular. Sorry but a young inexperienced ideologue won't serve Romney or if elected the country.

Frankly until there's any other VP recommended...there's really no argument.

It's moot. The lady doesn't want the job. Nobody votes for vice president anyway. If that weren't the case, FDR wouldn't have selected a hat salesman from Pendergast named Truman. And he turned out pretty well. I would love to see Dr. Rice on the ticket, but SHE DOESN'T WANT THE JOB.

My guess is you define "young, inexperienced ideologue" as someone who doesn't agree that His Ethicslessness is one of the top four (or is it five?) presidents of all time. ;)

FDR did not select Truman. The party bosses did. They knew Franklin was in the Dead Pool and Henry Wallace, the current VP, was a great admirer of Uncle Joe Stalin.

Harry was the safe choice. Besides what better way to end that pesky committee on how business was contributing to the war effort than by kicking the chairman upstairs?

Re: Elections 2012:What unites us is greater than what divides us

Romney's VP choice will matter about 1/10th of what McCain's did. McCain looked half dead at times, which meant that you had to ask yourself if you wanted his #2 taking over midway through 2010 if the worst occurred. The overwhelming response to that was "Fark no", so here we are.
