Re: Elections 2012: Congressional and Gubernatorial

Well isn't this special:

Sen. Scott Brown's (R-MA) staffers chanted Indian "war whoops" and made "tomahawk chops" during a campaign rally for the senator this week, WCVB-TV reports.

Ooookaaayyyy...now I'm sure many a knuck' is thrilled with this, but for a guy trying to win an election on a likeability advantage, I'm not sure this is the way to go about it.

Re: Elections 2012: Congressional and Gubernatorial

No, I was heartless. My degree of brainlessness, whatever it is, has not changed with time, so I was precisely as brainless back when I was thought Frédéric Bastiat was a genius, Murray Rothbard was clever and Lew Rockwell was speaking truth to power. Which, to be fair, was pretty brainless now you mention it.

So long as you're willing to admit it. ;)

That is messed up.

Re: Elections 2012: Congressional and Gubernatorial

538 now has the Dems' probability of holding the Senate at 80% (most likely outcome 52-48 R +1 pickup). A month ago it was 39% (most likely outcome 48-52 R +5 pickups). Amazing swing.

The vast majority of house races are not polled the way the Senate and President are, but if anything like that shift is happening downticket...

Re: Elections 2012: Congressional and Gubernatorial

If I had to make the call right now, it'd be GOP gaining a seat. GOP gains are NE, ND, and MT. Dems get MA. ME goes Indy but aligns with Dems. Biggest wildcard is MO as Akin still has a few hours to ditch and I'm curious if he truly does get abandonded by right wing donors in a winnable race.

GOP would like VA, CT, FL, OH and WI. Dems would like ND, NV, and IN but as of right now I don't see those flipping. Oddly enough, the GOP's best candidates have been in races currently off the board (Wilson in NM, Lingle in HI) while atrocious bids in IN, MO, VA (I know Allen's running even but a fresh face would be a lot better), and ND are causing some serious problems. Dems could have done better in CT.

Re: Elections 2012: Congressional and Gubernatorial

In Maine Angus is getting screwed by TV ads. They are hammering his ties to Wind energy(rightfully so). His polling has dropped like a rock although he still has a big lead. I see the Dem candidate picking up those votes so the repubs may get what they want, 38 % wins or something like that.

No kidding! A Chris Dodd clone was a terrible idea. Murphy is sued for non-payment on his mortgage, yet once he's elected to Congress he's suddenly being offered a below-market interest rate on a new mortgage? and he clearly owes the unions big-time when the governor's unpopularity is at all time highs?

Malloy's unpopularity may be too much for Murphy to overcome.

Much better. They have no business losing to that idiot McMahon.
Wait for the chair or the roll of dimes hidden in the trousers. Nothing is over until the final bell rings (or the curfew).

True.

One hour remaining and Akin says he's in it to win it. If I were him I'd hire somebody to start his car for him and wait 30 seconds before climbing in. The RNC plays for keeps!

While I think the dude represents the heart and soul of conservative Republicans, he's going to need money. Tommy Thompson in WI proves what happens when you go dark for several weeks while your opponent is blasting away at you. Obviously the RNC and RNSC have to stay way the hell away from this race but I'm a bit surprised that Rove and the Koch boys are blowing it off too. He's going to need that support and I'm not sure the Family Research Council and Newt Gingrich is going to be enough

Heard a campaign marketing guy today on POTUS saying Tommy and the NRSC are about to open the bomb bay doors on ads. Both sides in WI have tons of out of state cash driving their advertising. That race is a real credit to free speech, er, massive inflows of special interest money.

Re: Elections 2012: Congressional and Gubernatorial

So at about 5:01 local time I guess McCaskill started blasting Akin with ads regarding his, lets say "old fashioned" take on rape and pregnancy. I'm curious what polling is going to look like a week from now, especially if he can't get on the air himself right away.

In other news, Brownie isn't handling this Indian war whooping thing too well out of his own staffers. Apparently he wagged his finger and gave a "just don't do it again" public message. Real profile in courage there. His campaign's own polling of the race must be in the toilet if this is the basis for his re-election strategy.

The Republican Self Implosion has been the most entertaining aspect of the campaign season. Between Akin, Brown, and Romney there's enough late night comedy fodder for a decade.

Grab all of the Democrat sound bytes and you'd have enough material for a couple seasons of Jerry Springer episodes.

I think you're compensating for the fact that you've nominated a moron for President and with Akin and Brown at the helm have petered away your chance at McConnell running the Senate. McConnell must be in comatic state by now watching these morons destroy his career.

Gary Johnson is a moron?

Re: Elections 2012: Congressional and Gubernatorial

Gary Johnson is a moron?

Him too. Running for President in a party he'd never get elected is moronic. The reason the Christian Right, and The Tea Party got any traction in this country is because they factionalized the Republican Party. 3rd parties don't work.

Re: Elections 2012: Congressional and Gubernatorial

3rd parties don't work.
Ross Perot made some strides in 3rd party land, I think if he had picked a different VP he would have done even better. 3rd parties would work if everyone didn't vote for the lessor of 2 evils
