Elections 2012: Congressional and Gubernatorial

Re: Elections 2012: Congressional and Gubernatorial

I was using sarcasm, which is clearly above your pay grade. And John Paul came down out of his "safe Ivory tower in the middle of Italy" long enough to take a bullet for his support of Polish freedom. His involvement wasn't entirely "pontificating," was it? Walesa is a great man, who certainly earned his Nobel Prize (unlike someone else I could mention). I'm sure you've forgotten than Walesa credits John Paul's 1979 visit to Poland as being the inspiration for the creation of Solidarity.
Uh - he was shot in St. Peter's Square, not on the wharves of Gdansk. I am definitely aware of Walesa's relationship with the Catholic Church and JP2 in particular. The both get (and deserve) credit. I just happen to think you're giving too much credit to the spark, and not enough credit to the person who built, tended, fed, and grew the fire over the long haul.

When Old Pio and Bob Gray think you're a bleeding heart "libstain" and Kepler thinks you're a soulless (small-c) conservative, you're probably a pretty reasonable guy. :)

To be fair, I don't think you're soulless; I just think you're untried by the rigors of raising a family.

Alaska's lone US House Representative Don Young (R) easily wins his primary. Will go against Sharon Cissna (D) in November.

Ballot measure for a coastal zone management program goes down big time. Measure allowing municipalities to increase their maximum property tax exemptions from $20K to $50K is a dead heat.

Did you really just call LynahFan a liberal? Really?
He's liberal on some issues, not liberal in others. He just tends to post more about his liberal issues than his conservative issues. I'd introduce you to nuance, but I don't think it'd go well.

Walesa and the Pope both did a lot of good in my reading of history. Kudos to both in my book.

Uh, they've got like 2 months before the election, and I believe Texas added a House seat in this census. What do they do if they don't get a legit map?

We have a provisional map drawn by a federal judicial panel. In fact, I'm fairly certain that at this stage, it's all for 2014, as we're locked into the provisional map for 2012 with the primaries past.

In your moronic assessment, where an assassination attempt occurs determines whether it's noteworthy? It's clear you either forgot, or worse, don't care that John Paul was nearly killed for his efforts to support and inspire Solidarity. Not a BFD to you, but I'd imagine most people, not to mention the judgement of history, would disagree.

Now you want to crawfish away from your mean-spirited, crude assessment of his role here, and position yourself as "reasonable," merely standing up for Mr. Walesa. It's too late for that. You're free to say anything you like. Just so you realize we understand what a loudmouth ignoramus you are.

You argued that he "came down from his ivory tower long enough to take a bullet..." I was just reminding you that the assassination attempt was actually IN his ivory tower, since you apparently forgot.

Sure, sure - just please show me where I said anything other than I believed that Walesa should get more credit than the Pope, and that Walesa took greater personal risks than the Pope. Perhaps maybe you're just a little too defensive over any perceived slight to the Catholic Church?

Nah, we've been dumped on so long we're used to it. Now, dumping on the Muslims will get you in a heap big of trouble!

Child. We Presbyterians are notoriously defensive about "perceived slights to the Catholic Church." Repitition doesn't make your bigotry any less offensive.

NRSC cuts its ads in NM, MO, puts an enormous buy on ND which had been thought safe.

They are also talking about putting money into OH and FL, where I'd have thought they already had enormous buys to reinforce downticket voting.

One thing's for sure: they've got plenty to spend.

RCP No Toss-ups Senate map just moved CT from blue to red, which would give GOP a 51-49 majority.
