Elections 2012.2 - Congressional and Gubernatorial

Re: Elections 2012.2 - Congressional and Gubernatorial

Great criteria to vote by, thinking people! It really astonishes me how shallow the mob can be. Nothing against these ladies in particular, if they figured that would get them elected then great for them.
Just like 90% of black people voting for the halfrican in chief because he looks like them, instead of actually using their brains. Idiots.

Re: Elections 2012.2 - Congressional and Gubernatorial

At least Bachmann won. I don't agree with her crazy religious stuff, but at least she won't actively try to **** us all over like most of the other liberal pieces of **** that were elected. Glad that at least my district is represented by a Republican.

The fact that the voter ID act was shot down is pure bull****. Have some common ****ing sense you ****ing cocksucking pieces of ****! Makes me sick.

Im so excited to get to spend another 2 years without a single republican representing me at any level...depressing.

Re: Elections 2012.2 - Congressional and Gubernatorial

The nominal rate was 70%, but the effective rate was still near what we pay today. The reason for this? Tax deductions. Back then, you could take deductions for rug purchases, pet parakeet feather trimmings appointments, and whatever else there might be. When Reagan cut the top marginal rate to 25% he had removed the deductions, creating only a small effective rate cut. Basically, he made the tax code simpler and we've been mucking with it ever since in the name of special interest lobbies, keeping it roughly the same while increasing the nominal top marginal rate to 36%.

Excellent post! Very well put. Thank you for that valuable perspective. :)

In 1996, 84% of African-American voters voted for Clinton. In 2000, 90% voted for Gore. In 2004, 88% voted for Kerry. It's not like it went from 50/50 to 90/10 when Obama was put on the ticket. Jeebus.

Oh, you're right, they vote for their welfare and food stamps instead, that is much better.

Stockholm Syndrome, eh?

"Meet the new boss, same as the old boss."

You guys seem to forget that you had 8 years under GW, and you swept into office on the Tea Party brand in 2010. This result is mostly because you:

1. Nominated a guy who doesn't reflect your values. What is Mitt's position on anything anyway? I don't know.
2. Went into Full Derp mode. The Conservatives Tea Partiers Republicans Whatever's lost 2 Senate seats (1 in Indiana, and 1 in Missouri) because you nominated two lunatics.
3. You keep signing Grover's pledge. There is nothing conservative or fiscally conservative about Grover Nordquist.

You clean those three things up and you can easily sweep into office again. I'd also suggest throwing out the Bone Man, Mitch, and Cantor. They failed.

Hey Scooby, I'm curious about your long hard Romney campaign, now that it's over: Did you ever actually think he was going to win, or was it just a long con as we all predicted?

In your lovely racist message, at least you've got a backhanded compliment in that they're smarter than the white hicks in the South who vote for the guys who want to take it away from themselves.

Actually I thought Obama was going to lose for sure a year ago. I figured after the conventions that Obama was likely to win (Republicans had a horrible convention). After the first debate I started to think Mitt might actually pull it off, but then he didn't take advantage of it so I pretty much figured it was Obama's to lose.

That being said it's fascinating to me how much political capital the Republicans have wasted since their sweeping victory in 2010. They accomplished nothing and now have been swept out office (although they did hold the House, but they have rotten leadership in the House so it's meaningless). The big question I suppose for us as an electorate is are we just going to flip-flop back and forth every two years, essentially becoming Romney's ourselves.

Re: Elections 2012.2 - Congressional and Gubernatorial

The truth hurts sometimes. If you don't think its true, you're in denial.

There's no doubt that the message of rage, hatred, and jealousy the national Democratic Party has been building for years is paying off big time among uneducated minorities. That's just the way it's been going. Wish it were different, but that's politics. Kill whitey and all that.
It hasn't come back to bite them yet, why should they change? It churns out millions of votes.
Along with that hatred comes a lot of outright lying and deception, illustrated by some interviews I heard on NPR this morning in the "inner cities": "Obama's gonna get all us poor people a lot more free stuff now!"

Not to indict the prez or local party groups under this characterization. There are plenty of Dems local to me who are nothing at all like Howard Dean or Rachel Maddow, I voted for two of them here at home. It's the national party that's diseased.

Republicans can cling to guns and religion, Democrats can cling to science and compassion....we'll see which one works out better.

Truth? Based on what, beyond your own prejudices and bigotry? Do you honestly believe that 90% of black voters are on welfare or food stamps, and that's the only possible reason they'd vote Democrat?

Also, love the moving target. 15 minutes ago, they all voted for Barack because he's black. Facts don't back that up, so now it's because they're all suckling the government teat. What's next?

The Republican Party is already dead and cold. :p
The Democrat Party is thriving with these methods, as pointed out. There's no contest anymore, we're all on this road.

I'm not disputing that the Democrats have won America. I'm just saying that the victory has cost our souls. The "lesser of two evils" is still pretty evil.

fyp

Seriously, how can people spout these things when it can be easily argued that their own people are doing exactly the same things?
