ECAC Playoff 2012 thread

Re: ECAC Playoff 2012 thread

anyone figure out how to watch this game? The Cornell subscriptions say "no postseason video."
Has anyone actually tried to register for the day pass and gotten it work?

The "postseason video" may refer to NCAA postseason (which are all free). But yes, taking literally, there are no viable subscription options, and it's awful marketing. I think I'll be sticking with the free audio.

I watched one of the Cornell Playoff games from last weekend. Despite the "postseason video note", registration and viewing were fine last weekend. It's a $7.95 gamble. At work so no time to watch it this aft. :(

Which reminds me, as a parent much preferred the setup in the Canadian system, with Sat/Sun games instead of Fri/Sat games as is custom with the ECAC.

When the ECAC women used a single site for semis/finals from at least 2000 until 2008, it was always Sat/Sun.

I have no clue why three of the four leagues are doing Fri/Sat. More time to prep for NCAAs? More time to let the NCAA committees consider the at-large selections? I have no idea.

I'm watching via Redcast now.

Score is 1-0. Johnston scored from Young and Gagliardi. Cornell has the edge in shots 11-6.

Unfortunately the Fri/Sat combo is a season long affair in the ECAC. Requires a lot of vacation time burning to see our D play. Usually have none left by the time March rolls around. :(

In the OUA (Ontario portion of CIS), were we had another D play a few years ago, 95% of the games were on the weekend.

Two - One Cornell very late in the second. Uden Johanssen tied it up at one 17 minutes into the second. Johnston got her second of the game, just minute later to put Big Red back up by one. Both goals even strength.

Re: ECAC Playoff 2012 thread

3-1 after 2. Jenner gets the third assisted by Saulnier and Johnston. Shots on goal are 21-10.

Big Red flexing its muscle. Now leading 5-1, five minutes to go in the third. Saulnier and Gagliardi with the third period markers. Johnston in on all goals, two goals and three helpers.

Re: ECAC Playoff 2012 thread

Scoreless after one period, but we did get to see some spirited 3-on-3 play, a rarity in the absense of a bench-clearing brawl.

Going down to the wire. 1-1, 8 minutes left in the third.

Re: ECAC Playoff 2012 thread

Now going into OT. Cornell was well advised to pick the earlier start time today, also the 4pm start time tomorrow.

Excellent game on both sides, lots of speed, lots of guts....

If it's now a tie, shouldn't SLU and H be entitled to pool their rosters and send out a select team against Cornell tomorrow?

I'm not sure it will matter. This game sounds chippy and physical and depending on how long OT goes, neither team might have anything left for tomorrow. Not that winning in regulation would have helped either. Cornell will be the rested team and it didn't sound like they had a tough game against the Bobcats.

If Harvard can pull this out, at least they'll have to be considered for the NCAA tournament regardless of what happens tomorrow.

I suspect that the win by UMD over Wisco might be bad news for those lingering in the 7,8,9 spots in the pairwise at the momemt.

Re: ECAC Playoff 2012 thread

Congratulations to SLU 2-1. Sabatine may have scored the winning goal but MacDonald deserves the first star for stoning H on so many odd-man rushes.

Re: ECAC Playoff 2012 thread

It's over. SLU wins 2-1. Once again, the Crimson choke in the playoffs. Season over. At some point, this team and coaching staff has to look in the mirror and decide when they are going to step up and win in the postseason. 4 years and counting of absolute choke jobs or not showing up. Really disappointing.

Re: ECAC Playoff 2012 thread

Havard and SLU 1-1 after regulation. On to OT. Sabatini and Dempsey with the goals.

SLU won. Sabatini with the winner. The all team leading scorer of the PWHL, pots both SLU goals.
