ECAC Playoff 2012 thread

Re: ECAC Playoff 2012 thread

Princeton fights back to tie, 3-3. Outshooting the Crimson 27-15. About half of the third period to go.

Re: ECAC Playoff 2012 thread

Crimson may have been looking beyond Tigers- 3 apiece in the third. Princeton out shooting Harvard by twice and beating them to the puck on face offs. GOT to want it.

Harvard gets empty-netter and wins 5-3. Suck it up, Tigers, and come back tomorrow!

Re: ECAC Playoff 2012 thread

The game in Hanover ends 22 seconds into the first OT period.
St. Lawrence with the GWG.

While SLU appeared to be asleep in the first (Outshot 10-2), they were not in the end (12 shots in the third) and in the OT (Scoring 22 seconds in).

Re: ECAC Playoff 2012 thread

Was gonna go to the Clarkson-Quinny tilt, but a major snowstorm north of the north country derailed that plan. :(

I watched the first two periods (can't MAKE me do OT on Friday, even to see the end of a game:o;)) But I would agree. 1st period to the Big Green, 2nd period to SLU. They came out blasting. From the looks of day 1, the ECAC quarters could be riveting!

22 seconds is a common number for the Big Green. Last week Darty scored in OT with 22 seconds left on the clock to gain home ice. Now they lose 22 seconds into OT on home ice.

Re: ECAC Playoff 2012 thread

Midway in the third they are still up 3-0.

Game over. Quinnipiac with the upset win 4-1.

As DC said. Riveting. I can see at least two series heading to a Sunday showdown.

I'll be on the road tomorrow taking in some of the action. :)

P.S...I know this is the not NCAA way, but it would be nice to have series in all rounds like they do in the NHL, the PWHL and all of minor hockey in Canada.

No penalties for Quinnipiac.

Yeah I noticed that too. In a series that I expected to be grinding, there was only two penalties all game, both against Clarkson. Note that Clarkson pulled their goaler with over 3 minutes left, trailing 3-1. Quinnipiac scored into the EN not long after to make it 4-1. Then Clarkson took a late penalty, so they had to put Howe back in net, squashing any thoughts of a comeback.

Re: ECAC Playoff 2012 thread

Looks like the SLU-Dartmouth game played out as expected. Most likely it will continue through the weekend. I didn't think that Quinny would take Clarkson down by more than a goal although the last one was an empty netter. Looks like both series could go three.

And how about Brown getting two goals on Cornell and holding them to four?? That has to be some kind of upset even though they lost.

Welcome to the ECAC playoffs 2012! Buckle up and enjoy the ride.

On the first Brown marker, the play by play folks mentioned that this was the first goal Brown scored vs Cornell in 3 plus years.

Re: ECAC Playoff 2012 thread

Princeton and Harvard tied 1-1 after 1. Both on short-handed goals! I believe that was the first SH goal Princeton has scored all year. Good time for it.
