St. Lawrence looked rather bad against Clarkson last weekend and RPI impressed me. No idea about the Ivies (other than Yale being good) since they can't play many real games before this weekend.

OsecnUC has always picked Union first and RPI last. I'm assuming his wish is for Union to win every game and for RPI to lose every game, given his predictions in the pick the games threads.

Re: ECAC Pick The Standings 2010-11

Alright, time to join the dance ..... The reality is that no one knows.
I'd rather do this in "blocks": Yale alone at the top. Gate, Union and Cornell all tied for 3rd and getting a bye. Dartmouth, RPI, the Q and Clarkson to host a playoff series. Princeton, Brown and St. Lawrence to have long road seasons. But since there has to be an order:

1. YALE (they should be the concensus pick)
2. COLGATE (gotta pick the team a little above the crowd)
3. UNION (3rd again; probably within 1 spot of their true finish)
4. CORNELL (a "down" year for them, if such exists)
5. DARTMOUTH (they'll make Hanover a cold night for visitors)
6. RPI (gotta keep scores low to have a chance)
7. QUINNIPIAC (should be down, but will surprise some)
8. CLARKSON (last year was a BAD memory, think reset)
9. PRINCETON (too much lost from last year)
10. BROWN (still playing as the underdog)
11. HARVARD (potential to do more, but ....... )
12. St. LAWRENCE (the nightmare season moves down Rte 11)

Alas, you've got me figured out. You must realize this isn't Vegas, so where I end up in the "contest" is only on paper and has no real bearing on anything. The fun of being a fan-atic is knowing your team is the best and the rival is the dark and evil side :D
For all my years I've always picked U to win every game and always place 1st in addition to picking the "other" school to lose every game and finish last. Part of the fun is that some fans take it way too seriously and get offended and/or mad at it. I would hope that a real fan would always believe in their team and pick them to win. The reality of the situation is that we have one of the best, if not the best, travel partner in the league where the schools we play on any given weekend dread matching up against the Capitol District....but I would never admit that publicly :p

Re: ECAC Pick The Standings 2010-11

OK.........here goes, I researched, I made notes, I looked at composites from all the prognosticators, I procastinated and after all that I lost my notes and picks and am doing it be the seat of my pants and relying on a simple wild as_ guess at the last minute.

My picks particularly for my own team pain me greatly.

1. Ylae (Not convinced they can keep the puck out of the net is my only hedge)
2. Union (Had them first all along but revised after watching in Lake Placid)
3. Colgate
4. Cornell (Feel I should be picking them lower)
5. RPI
6. Dartmouth (One team I am totally not sure about)
7. Quinnipiac
8. Clarkson
9. Brown
10. Princeton
11. SLU (How can I do this to my Saints after chastising Sullivan????)
12. Harvard
