ECAC-East: Who is on the ice?

Re: ECAC-East: Who is on the ice?

They do care.
Yes they do. IIRC, Pink Bunny stuff must be open to the entire school, not just the team.

Over in D1 land they are on the ice doing "drills" with the coaches. Practices / tryouts can't start for 10 days.

I thought no one could start till Oct. 15th now?

Official practices start Oct. 2 in D1. Interestingly, DU's exhibition against the U-18s is the same day.

They've been allowed to have 2-hours of practice per week w/ their coaches since 9/15.

I understand that. I was talking about D-III:cool:

Re: ECAC-East: Who is on the ice?

Do all DII/DIII schools hold open tryouts? How long do they last? Since players do not sign a LOI, do any kids who are "committed" ever not make a team?

Re: ECAC-East: Who is on the ice?

Can anyone tell me if the ECAC East is going to start practice on 10-15 next year after the interlock is over. It would create more interest in hockey early but could have a negative effect on sports like football. I personally would like to see the east start on 10-15 and begin games a week after like the SUNYAC and ECAC West.

I answered this in another thread...Yes, and they will have conference games the first weekend in Nov...

What about this year? Any teams starting practice with their coaches on the 15th or 18th?

Re: ECAC-East: Who is on the ice?

What is becoming apparent, and annoying, is the previous deference to the NESCAC.Playing by their rules ie. first day of official practice on Nov.1st, and then have them discontinue the interlock with no regard or care for the ECAC EAST members is arrogant and self centered. But what else is new!
Judging from the initial interest in the NESCAC thread,9 posts and 6 from the same poster, we may see that the NESCAC is so good,in their eyes, they don't need games.Or we may find out that no one cares about the NESCAC,and that they may have finally self disclosed what an elitist group they really are.Too bad, the out of conference games were fun to watch and good for hockey.

Geez, if you dislike the NESCAC that much, you ought to be happy to be done with them.

Re: ECAC-East: Who is on the ice?

Be are all sad to see the interlock end but as Bill Belichick of the New England Patriots always says it is time to move on. In reference to the Primelink I wonder if Middlebury is going to feel at a disadvantage with the three other teams having 3-4 more games and two weeks of practice under there belt. In the past I always thought Plattsburgh had this same advantage. I think Middlebury would want to stay in the Primelink to provide competition outside the NESCAC. The NESCAC is a different league with high academic standards but with the ability through there tip program to give a top athletic a free ride just like the Ivy League schools.

What are you talking about? Tip has nothing to do with financial aid. It is about SAT scores and admissions.

Great Hockey Player + financial need + at least average grades = Tip at NESCAC school. Right?

Re: ECAC-East: Who is on the ice?

ECAC East will put the coaches on the ice Nov 1st and not a day sooner, NESCAC rule.
What would they do if all of the ECAC East teams decided en masse to start practicing on the 15th? End the the Interlock?

I, personally liked the later start, and I think it has benefits at the end of the season, because all that really happens by starting earlier is that the season is more diluted. On the other hand I don't like the lack of respect that the NESCAC as a whole has shown to the ECAC East in this slow motion breakup that really started in 1999. Hope you guys enjoy playing Tufts and Conn College twice a year.
