Eastern D-III hockey -- where do we go from here???

Re: Eastern D-III hockey -- where do we go from here???

No Pool B, not enough teams (only 5 - The ratio of Pool B teams to Pool B bids is to be equal to the ratio of Pool A teams to Pool A bids. That number has to be at least 7:1 because it takes 7 teams to get an AQ. That gives less than 1 Pool B bid, and the NCAA truncates instead of rounds in such calculations. (To find the number of Pool B bids, multiply by the reciprocal of the access ratio, which is guaranteed to be at least 7. The best case scenario for the ECAC W would be that the ratio is exactly 7:1. In that case the number of bid is calculated as 5(1/7) = 5/7, and 5/7 is less than 1, which is rounded down to 0.

I stand corrected!!

Next opportunity from something to come out...

The ECAC convention September 26-28 on Cape Cod.

Each hockey conference is having meetings.

Re: Eastern D-III hockey -- where do we go from here???

It's already been decided. Remember they had a big meeting a few weeks ago in Springfield?

It might already be decided, but they have been about as forthcoming as Rock Hudson :(

We're hearing rumors down here of a big shakeup, but I can't pin anyone or anything down.

Maybe Josh can make some phone calls?? I think if Charlie knows, he's under an embargo.

You are correct on that , ;) Joe

So, they are going all NESCAC on us here

Enquiring minds want to know - just because -

So fans of ECAC-W teams can continue to spend the next few months anxiously awaiting an answer, and hoping that it solve all of the league's problems? :p

Wow, way to get our hopes up, disappoint us, and then hint that we may still have reason to hope   :D

If Charlie can't say anything, it's not his fault. He is part of Norwich U and we have to respect the wishes of NU and the ECAC. When the thit hits the manure spreader, we'll all be the first to know here on this message board.

USCHO will have an article up within months of the announcement. Which is why we need USCHO3 -- D3 hockey for the fans, by the fans.

ECAC/SUNYAC Interlock?

By the looks of this season's NC schedules, it appears as though the ECAC/W and SUNYAC have resumed an informal interlock similar to that of the pre-1993 arrangment.

I'm not blaming Charlie or NU - but I am feed up with the information flow (or lack thereof) If I don't know, I can't pontificate about it :p

I do wish somebody would put together a site like that ... There seem to be sites for other D3 sports.

Totally understand that concept. Believe me, no knock on Charlie (or anybody else at NU or any other ECAC institution). I totally get why they would want to keep it all under wraps until details have been finalized and approved by all pertinent parties.

That will put teams on their schedules, but will it get them an autobid if they don't have 7 teams in their half of the interlock? I don't think so? They will have to come up with something more creative than that.

Perhaps they ARE on their way to becoming SUNYAC associate members :p ;)

A better plan would be to let a couple of SUNYAC teams join the ECAC W - the total membership of the two leagues stands at 14. Just enough for two autobids if they just redrew the boundaries. :)

That would require a change in the SUNYAC bylaws. The idea that I suggested would not :)

True, but why would the SUNYAC want to dilute their autobid? Would Platty and Ossy want to add 5 teams that would want part of their autodbid cookies?
