Eastern D-III hockey -- where do we go from here???

Re: ECAC/SUNYAC Interlock?

Re: ECAC/SUNYAC Interlock?

By the looks of this season's NC schedules, it appears as though the ECAC/W and SUNYAC have resumed an informal interlock similar to that of the pre-1993 arrangment.

To expand on this comment, if one includes potential holiday tournament match-ups:

Elmira plays 8 of 9 (no POT) for 10 games

Hobart plays 8 of 9 (no PLT) for 9 games

Neumann plays 6 of 9 (no OSW, FRE, or BFS) for 11 games

Utica plays 4 of 9 (no PLT, POT, FRE, GEN, or MOR) for 6 games

Manhattanville plays 4 of 9 (no PLT, OSW, GEN, BRC, or BFS) for 6 games

So Neumann, Elmira, and Hobart seem to be on their way to competing for the SUNYAC Regular Season Title.

Utica seems to get lost in the woodwork, again (they have 2 games against DII Franklin Pierce, 4 games against 4 different NE teams). :(

And Manhattanville appears to be trying to maybe boost their abysmal OOC schedule from last year. In addition to the low-to-mid SUNYs, they play only 2 (maybe 3) ECAC-NE, and the Norwich Tournament (definite against Adrian, not that it helps much, and either Nichols or Norwich). If they play Norwich, they might have a decent SOS. If they play Nichols, they might fall victim to the process again this year. (No offense to Nichols, but M'ville's SOS very likely depends on playing NRW)

That says that even though the Adrian game won't really count, Manhattanville needs a win so that they can play NU (I'm being a bit over confident here, but I don't see a loss to Nichols as being really very likely for the Cadets)

Should Norwich lose to Nichols, you can fully expect this post to be brought back to light. ;)

Will one game really make that much difference out of 25? I mean if nichols goes winless and norwich goes undefeated.... that's a good sized difference, but if nichols ends up with 13 wins again (or 20 or 24 like the 2 seasons before last), it's not going to be much of a difference at all.

They'd be better off replacing the morisville, brockport, cortland, or WNEC games with say.... plattsburgh, oswego, babson, xxxxxx. Easier said than done, and not a schedule that gives you many or any easy games....but still better for the SOS than their current setup.

Of course, they're also probably hoping that the rest of the league does better ooc to help them out.

Considering that they will have 24 games not 25, because they will play Adrian, it makes a bit more of a difference, and adding NU into their OWP instead of Nichols will move both their OWP and OOWP more towards the "sunny" side of 0.500 and Nichols would probably move both to the south.

Charlie and HF77

We know that you know, but do you know when we'll know?

Re: Eastern D-III hockey -- where do we go from here???

Shouldn't be too long, hopefully in the next couple weeks....

It already has been far too long, had the parties exhibited reasonable competence, something would have been released by now. No one would/should have expected the release of a complete long-term plan, but in failing to release anything indicating their voted upon future direction, the NESCAC administration has only proved themselves the buffoons, as I and I suspect many others believed them to be. :( Perhaps you mean "It shouldn't be too much longer, hopefully in the next couple weeks"?

Re: Eastern D-III hockey -- where do we go from here???

Permit me to rant here.

We have a story brewing out there that may have major implications on D-III hockey for years to come. How come there is NOTHING on the D-III page, NOTHING from any of the USCHO eastern "correspondents"??

If this was D-I, there would be 30 stories on 3 different web pages. But since D-III merits about as much coverage as a mid season matchup between Bentley and AIC, something has got to be done to satisfy the majority of college hockey playing schools.

It was a tongue-in-cheek post back last April on the formation of USCHO3. I beginning to think that Gens. Webb and Jaslow need to fire the cannons at Fort One and begin the War of Succession.

Give me USCHO3 or give me Deeth!!!

I agree. I'd be willing to cancel to my USCHO Extra subscription, and use that annual amount (and then some) to help support such an endeavour. And I'm sure I'm not alone on this.

I'd probably even volunteer to be a writer/analyst/statistician for such an endeavor. (If anybody wanted me to)

Not saying I agree with all the Hush Hush stuff but I am in a bind sorry...
