The Nuremburg Trials didn't go far enough compared to what we need to do when this is "over".

However, actual facts matter. If facts are misstated or misrepresented, even if unintentionally, that necessarily diminishes the value of the opinion.

When slapshot made his post, and I responded, it was still early in the events. New photos and videos and witnesses were still turning up. He posted that she wasn't shot through the windshield, but through the drivers side window. I had just seen a news story that contained photos that pretty clearly shows a single shot through the windshield, and a drivers side window that was either down or shot out. The video also pretty clearly shows shots through the drivers side window.

I had no idea as to whether he had seen the photo of the single shot through the windshield, but I felt that it was important, if we were discussing what happened, to have an accurate recitation of what the facts were.

Again, nothing about that single bullet hole in the windshield caused me, when I saw it and saw the video of the shooting, to conclude the shooting was justified. It clearly wasn't. But a statement that there wasn't a shot through the windshield is simply inaccurate.

And failed to comply with the officer's orders to back off. He was doing his job.

Lost in all of this is this tidbit from yesterday. Trump Oil, on its way, once taxpayers pay for fixing the Venezuelan oil infrastructure. From Heather Cox Richardson's column today (1/8/26)

"Today, Energy Secretary Chris Wright told an audience at a Goldman Sachs energy industry event in Miami, Florida, that the United States will take control of all oil from Venezuela for the foreseeable future. Lisa Desjardins and Nick Schifrin of PBS NewsHour reported this afternoon that Trump administration officials have told lawmakers that they plan to put the money raised from their seizure of Venezuelan oil into bank accounts outside the U.S. Treasury. Desjardins clarified that “sources said they understood these as similar [to] or decidedly ‘off-shore’ accounts.”

Yesterday, Trump announced that, as president of the United States, he would control the money from the sale of Venezuelan oil."

Why didn't they just drive around her, as she was motioning them to do so, and the vehicle just ahead of them did? just like any normal person would have done.

Instead, they decided to stop and escalate the situation.

I posted that in the Venezuela thread...the money will be in offshore accounts cause that isnt shady.

We live just over 200 miles from Minneapolis in Canada. In the past we spent 2-3 months of winter in Florida. Would normally love to watch junior hockey but tRump and his henchman finished that. No way will we go to Minneapolis or any US destination.The memes on my phone would land me in jail.

At least two clergy were among those shoved, shot at with pepper rounds and exposed to pepper spray while protesting the actions of in Minnesota after an ICE agent shot and killed a woman who had been observing them.

What are the odds that if the ICE goon is charged, and an arrest warrant is issued, that he would be handed over to Minnesota authorities? At this point, I think it’s very low.

Assuming the Constitution still matters come 2029 and free elections remain, the new POTUS will order the US Marshalls office (or whichever agency) to send this chickenhawk agent back to MN.

Outside of visits (I have one coming up to assist my family due to my father's declining health and my sister is having surgery on the 20th) and again in May for Kid #2's graduation, after that it's going to be few and far between. I will never again hold residence in U.S. aside from owning property.

As for whether he ever gets charged...I dont trust any version of the DOJ to do that. They protect their own. They will claim Qualified Immunity and end it.

She was blocking the road...they were telling her to get out of the way which is all they really have authority to do. That is how this all went down. Then she did and they killed her for it.

Haf the Black People on SM I follow are saying "now you see what they do to us all the time" which is sadly true.

Living in the MAGAt land that is west-central Minnesota, three of us were talking about the WJC at my son's hockey practice the other night. I made the comment that I think that the World Cup will fail (probably more hope on my part). When asked why, I said would you want to be a black or brown person traveling to the US right now? Even if you have the proper papers, you don't know what is going to happen to you. One person agreed with me, and one person said it wasn't that bad......

And not to excuse the rest of the ICE people there, but she would have had a clear route out if it wasn't for the dipshit pre-occupied with video-taping her and not paying the least bit attention to what else was going on, until the car start to inch forward a millimeter, at which point cross-eye magee started blasting away.
