I was in a tribunal a week ago where DHS moved to pretermit every single asylum case on "safe third country grounds." Every. single. one. At one point, a judge scheduled a second master for a man to prove he would be in danger in Honduras. Confused, he said "No, Peru. I'm from Peru."...

Frustrated, the judge snapped. "We're not talking about Peru anymore. This is about Honduras." In one motion, that man's asylum claim was dead. With no opportunity to actually prove his case, and with the serious possibility that he'd be deported to Honduras - a country he's never been.

I had my own interesting airport experience this week,after St. Cloud had his. I've been picking up the WJ teams and making sure they get all their gear, find their bus, etc. ONE airline had some struggles getting all bags here, but we all good now. Anyway.

An Ethiopian porter was assigned to help me. Delightful man. We started chatting, and I asked him how long he'd been here, and where he was from. He nearly jumped out of his skin when I mentioned Ethiopia being the cradle of civilization - the perfect weather for humans. He profusely thanked me for mentioning it. Found out he's here without his family to make money. The kindest, funniest man who I watched play jokes on his colleagues, and who all clearly adored him. After we got the last bus loaded today, I told him how glad I am to have him here, and I hope his family can join him. Not being a hero here, just wanting to let those I can, know that we appreciate them in our community and know they are hard workers. Seeing your wife and kids 1-2 times a year is rough.

Staffers for President Donald Trump celebrated the administration's elimination of 90 percent of USAID’s work with a cake — even after they were warned the cuts would lead to millions of deaths, according to a report.

A month into Trump’s second term, an inexperienced team led by Marine veteran Peter Marocco and Jeremy Lewin, a 28-year-old with no prior government or aid experience, began to cut U.S. Agency for International Development programs, ProPublica reported.

By late February, once the aides were on track to eradicate 90 percent of the work done by USAID – the largest humanitarian donor in the world – they celebrated with congratulatory speeches and a sheet cake.

The impacts of the cuts were felt immediately. Days after news of the cuts, a clinic in a remote part of South Sudan at the epicenter of a massive cholera outbreak said it would shutter.

The real numbers are: we lost Arkansas. I don't mean emotionally or politically. I mean, just straight up lost it. Don't know where it went. Left it there and went away for a couple weeks and when we came back, gone!
