My daughter's passport took about 2 weeks last month (we also paid for expedited). No issues.
 
My father-in-law, a naturalized Pakistani-American with a TS clearance who worked in defense his whole career, was just in Italy on businesss (for his non-defense retirement career). He was supposed to arrive back in the US on Wednesday, and none of his family has heard from him for 2 days. The only word on our minds was “detention.” My brother in law finally filed a police report yesterday so they would go to his house for a wellness check.

Turns out he’s fine - he just had the brilliant idea of changing phone carriers while he was out of the country, and none of it worked when he got back home, so he was completely off the grid for 2 days. Whew.

It still really brought home -as if any of us needed it - just how insane this administration is that anyone in this position would even have to think about these scenarios. Trump is ruining so many lives, and for absolutely nothing.

It's for something. Stephen Miller and his ilk get to play Schutzstaffel. Trump et al. steal us blind while the droolers cheer. I am very glad your FIL is okay.

I was in Mexico on vacation during Trump's last foray into the agricultural tariff wars. It was all over the Mexican papers, even the ones printed in English, that the Mexican government had shifted most, if not all, of it's importing of corn, soybeans, beef and pork, from the US to Brazil and Argentina. No matter what Trump thinks, there are other suppliers out there that are ready to step in and fill the void.

Soon, farmers are going to be clamoring for bailouts, or Trump will start throwing the money around to try and keep the MAGAt base for the midterms.
