Dump Term 2, 1.01: Sleep Now in the Fire

I work for a major maker of military and first responder radios.

One time I was discussing with a HW manager about the equivalent Chinese Baofeng first responder radios.

He said in the previous group he was in, they bought a bunch of them, tore them down, and reversed engineered them. Their conclusion was the Baofeng radios were very well made, with high quality parts, but can not possibly be making a profit for the prices they sell them at.
When you can pay near slave wages, and require 6 days/week for blue collar workers, shifts longer than our 8-hrs,?and some factories expecting their staff to sleep on the premises, the labor costs aren’t that steep. Most of the eleven materials can be mined in China, not imported from overseas sources, and they have an easy mix for their leaders to manufacture for prices far cheaper than we can here. Aside from the cost of shipping the units abroad, I fail to see how they could fail to undercut most other nations. The only thing bringing their prices up to near or equal prices with others’ products are the tariffs and the middlemen getting their cuts.

what are monopolists key traits? They cut quality and raise prices.
And they capture their oversight and regulators to impede entry into the market by competitors. But you don't even need a monopoly for that, just a lobby. People of the same trade seldom meet together, even for merriment and diversion, but the conversation ends in a conspiracy against the public, or in some contrivance to raise prices.

In regards to the price of commodities, the rise of wages operates as simple interest does, the rise of profit operates like compound interest.

Our merchants and masters complain much of the bad effects of high wages in raising the price and lessening the sale of goods. They say nothing concerning the bad effects of high profits. They are silent with regard to the pernicious effects of their own gains. They complain only of those of other people.

He's right in that the end goal is to end the income tax and replace that with tariffs. So yes, Americans will get a tax cut.

Sadly, most people will end up paying more in tariffs than they ever did in taxes, and the rich walk away scott free without paying taxes.

Trump officials have conveyed to Moscow that Trump was “angry” with Putin’s comments, he told NBC, though he said he has “a very good relationship with” the Russian leader.

Trump also told “Meet the Press” Sunday he could levy tariffs on Iran or take harsher action if that country does not accept a deal over its nuclear program, telling Welker, “If they don’t make a deal, there will be bombing.”

Remind me again how a woman President is too emotional and how Trump is the peace time President?

This has probably been posted before but I don't care. This is the kind of stuff I see all the time that isn't on the news or out there really that highlights how bad things really are.

Just as all federal employees have been ordered back to the office five days a week, the Trump administration has closed a federal office that oversees child care centers in federal buildings and fired most of the staff

Also, what is happening with these law firms all over the place "making" deals with the Trump administration is chilling to say the least. We are going to be Hungary before we know it.

The law firm stuff is a huge deal that should be getting a lot more attention.

CPAC did have Viktor Orban as a keynote speaker in 2022. It’s what the GOP wants.
