There is very little about this Continuing Resolution that I like—but there is even less I like about shutting down the government. With Donald Trump and Elon Musk taking a chainsaw to the federal government’s workforce and illegally freezing federal funding, the last thing we need to do is plunge our country into further chaos and turmoil by shutting down the government.

The Senate Democratic Caucus was unified on a "clean" one-month CR that would have kept the government open and given Congress time to negotiate bipartisan legislation. I’m disappointed that our Republican colleagues wouldn’t join us in that effort.

I will continue to fight against Donald Trump’s reckless, and in many instances, illegal attempts to gut the federal government. He is testing our system of checks and balances like they haven’t been tested in my lifetime. The fight continues.

I swear to God if I had financial and political support I'd primary him myself. But instead I'll 100% support whoever runs against him.

Unless the trump admin takes a different tone (ha), what happens when a ton of World Cup fans traveling here get disappeared into detention centers?
