The Bernie camp sent me an email this morning, "So...where do we go from here?"
He and AOC can go on their adorable, little rah-rah-rah speaking tour (which really needs your grassroots donations, BTW

). They don't have a real plan either, other than trying to get more progressives elected. Good luck with that in this country.
Honestly, it's what I want to see. I want to see more Dems in the crowds making an effort to put exclamation points on what's going on and show that there are people who will fight for them, if they'd just stop blindly voting for the red hats.
We keep hearing how "Dems can't message," "Dems are too elite;" Meanwhile you got Walz and Sanders meeting face to face with these people to give them someone who will listen.
Its why Bart Stupak was a great Dem politician for the Upper Peninsula despite it being a Republican stronghold for years. When Stupack did not seek reelection, it seemed to be the end of an era which lead to more Tea Party / MAGA mentality from the rural regions. More reactionary, less listening.
As seen from the success MAGA has had, "Trickledown" doesn't even work in politics, we need to build from the ground up like they've done. School board, township, village, all are building blocks.
Somewhere, we need to motivate people from these town halls to run for office. I liked the ground game Harris out together for that final month, but logistically, they couldn't get to where they needed to. Sure sending Walz's wife to Escanaba and Marquette a week before the election, or hot dropping into Traverse City and Grand Rapids was good, but that doesn't reach the people who need to hear the message in Ironwood, Mohawk, L'Anse, Stephenson, Naubinway, Indian River, West Branch, Alpena.
My God, there was even a town halls organized for a UP rep that he didn't even show up for. And he'll still likely
didn't even show up for, called it a stunt, and he'll still likely win re-election because there isn't anyone who will run against him.
Maybe there's something with the elder Millenial / Millenial / Gen-Z attitude where those that have empathy don't feel like they're good enough to run for these offices. It sure seems like the empathy-less MAGA youths have a devil-may-care attitude and don't have the same self doubt.
I know I've had those thoughts myself seeing some of the elected officials from back home. "
If they're this big a fuck up, even I could be better than that! But would I be good at it / good for the people?"
