Dump Term 2, 1.01: Sleep Now in the Fire

Now? Now he can pardon whoever the **** he wants.

This isn't new. The Presidential pardon power has always been virtually limitless. The only caveat is it only applies to federal crimes, and there's an open question whether a President can pardon himself. Beyond that there are some legal technicalities like whether a person admits to guilt by accepting a pardon, but otherwise, the pardon power has always been expansive. It's part of the checks and balances and meant to curb the legislative and judicial proclivities to be seen as being tough on crime. Sure, it can be and has often been abused previously, and will be again, but such is life.

Yeah, no, I understand that. But if this is truly "normal" what happened today with preemptive pardons by the President to circumvent the attacks by the incoming President against political rivals then please cite when it happened before. I'll stand corrected.

Drumpf will later note on Carrie Underhim’s amazing Acapulco singing of America the Beatific, the best rendition that has ever been.

Breaking news: The U.S. government will no longer recognize the citizenship of children born in the United States to immigrants who lack legal status, one of 10 immigration-related executive orders President-elect Donald Trump plans to sign Monday, an incoming administration official told reporters.

Unconstitutional but with the current makeup of SCOTUS that won't matter.

I assume your driver's license has your correct (current) gender?

Then it's yours forever. Trump can't take that away.

They'll just find ways to make life annoying to force changes to laws they don't like. For instance, they might issue new rules which disallow those states' IDs to be used as 'REAL IDs' for getting on a plane because they may contain gender markers the federal government won't recognize. Then there will be a public outcry to change the state law because the squares are being inconvenienced.

Hillary Clinton seen laughing for a solid 10 seconds at Trump’s inauguration while he’s announcing the renaming of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America. Such a nasty woman.

Of course he did. He said he was, and he actually had the power to do that one all by himself, mommy!
