You do realize that ABET accredited schools require a broad liberal arts education right? I took more humanities courses than humanities majors took science and math courses.

Society agrees we'd rather try to produce engineers who can form a constructive argument and write in complete sentences. I'm not so sure it's crucial for English majors to be able to do differential equations, trig, or integrals. :p

He is hitting the Red Areas of California as well. And lots of Red States are freaking out because their farmers can't bribe him.

He will deport more than he did last time...because Red States will help (DeSantis already said he would and you know Texas is ready) and he is going to have his Gestapo raid Blue States/Cities. Not for ideological reasons, but because the more farms that holds bust the more Bezos and the oligarchs can buy them up.
 
Preemptive pardons offered this morning for Liz Cheney, Fauci, etc. It seems like it should matter but it doesn't. But it really highlights to me this morning how bad the next 4 years are going to be. It highlights how much power Donald Trump actually has this time, and it's scary. Last time there were people who said no to him, this time that will not happen.

That’s how I know I’m getting old. I’ll probably just delete the meta apps here soon, and I can honestly say I’ve never had TikTok.

I am def one of the last kids who did Book It at Pizza Hut and read hundreds of books a year (but that pizza hit different as a kid)

My post was sloppy. The point was that engineering student are generally required to have a broad education that includes humanities. Often it results in an education more broad than humanities. Which is probably fine. But let's not act like engineers have never read a book. At least in the era before ChatGPT.

I honestly think rewards based stuff like Book It was a good thing. We're fighting for dopamine sources against apps and screens. If we can't offer something in return for attention I think we're in trouble.

that said, the screen time thing is complicated. There's a big difference between scrolling TikTok and reading Wikipedia. Or even playing games that aren't just tap tap tap.

Biden offers up 11th hour preemptive pardons to Gen. Milley, Dr. Fauci, and the entire J6 committee and witnesses ("Members of Congress and staff who served on the Select Committee, and the U.S. Capitol and D.C. Metropolitan police officers who testified before the Select Committee."). But not Merrick Garland or Jack Smith, tee hee!

I don't see why. Think of the precedent it sets.

Not that they couldn't before, but remember last term Trump did NOT pardon himself and a few others. Now? Now he can pardon whoever the fuck he wants. He and everyone around him is now completely immune from prosecution.

It's over. The United States is done.
