DU Hosts UVM - Oct. 9 & 10 - The 60th Anniversary Edition

Re: DU Hosts UVM - Oct. 9 & 10 - The 60th Anniversary Edition

As far as I know, Boone will be admitted to all athletic events and will be allowed to lead cheers and other do spirit stuff within reason. He won't be allowed on the ice, but then again, Ruckus doesn't skate, either. The only game day restriction that I know of is that DU athletes and staff are not allowed to take group photos with him. I think Boone will be fine, as long as he doesn't push the boundaries of good taste.

As for the band, they appeared at about 10 home games last year, on top of all home hoops games for men and women. I think they did well, and I hope they will be around at least that much this year, assuming they enough people and support....

That's good to know. Although given the histories of some folks who post here, that "within the boundaries of good taste" restriction could be a trifle confining.:D

BTW, I'm assuming I'm the last to discover the "fairest of colleges" vid on Youtube. Not bad, not bad at all.

The students have really embraced the fight song since they started putting the words on the scoreboard and teaching it in freshman orientation. It's one of the better success stories in the recent drive for increased school spirit.

Outstanding. Another triumph of expectations.

Does anyone know any bars in Burlington/S. Burlington that will be showing the game?

I think your best bet will be the Windjammer's Upper Deck Pub. It showed all the playoff games last year, and seems to be the unofficial bar for fans of the Cats.
I also heard the Sheraton's bar carry's the games as well.

Re: DU Hosts UVM - Oct. 9 & 10 - The 60th Anniversary Edition

I am looking forward to seeing UVM at Magness. This is a Vermont team that returns all 6 d-men and the goalie from a Frozen Four team last year, so DU will need to work very hard to score goals...A great early test without Denver's top scorer...

Expect two low scoring games this weekend...

For those of you who'd like to know more about UVM hockey, here's a link to a story on the defensive corps from today's Burlington Free Press. There's also a link in the article to two other stories--one's a season preview and the other's about the incoming freshmen.

Hey Swami, are you doing the "Know your Foe " this year? I know it was a pain.

Alas, no. In fact, I am going to remove it soon. It took a lot of hours to put together each week, and I don't think it was really worth the time I spent on it last year.

That said, I know DG and a few others are working on a new DU fan site, and I may contribute items for that from time to time once it's up and running.

dg, are we supposed to start registering now or wait for an official announcement?

Go ahead and register and make comments about the site on how it can be improved. There is also a direct link to the blog from the site as both will be operating continuously for now.
