Do the Minnesota Wild Need A Different Name?

Re: Do the Minnesota Wild Need A Different Name?

Where's the article link?

Re: Do the Minnesota Wild Need A Different Name?

Of the names that made it to the final list of candidates, Wild was the least popular with all the people I knew.

One of the local radio show DJs likes to call them the Bear Pigs, because of the logo.

That would be the ManBearPigs (South Park reference).

I would have liked the Voyageurs, personally.

Voyageurs had my vote. Throw l'etoile du nord on the shoulders or something.

Fun fact: Minnesota is the only state with a French motto, even though almost none of us have French ancestry. (I do, but very little.)

Voyageurs would have been great. I picked Lumberjacks off the list though.

What is a "voyageur" anyway? A traveling peeping Tom?

I would've went with Voyageurs, also. I wouldn't say I like "Wild," but I've gotten used to it. My first choice would've been a Cleveland Browns-like deal and gotten North Stars back.

Yes. Drop the "Minnesota" thing and find a winning name for a pro sports team. ;) :D
