In your first scenario, doesn't it make more sense if Amherst would play the winner of Norwich/Middlebury?
 
NESCAC invitational (feat. other NCAA teams) looks to be a full go. Adrian is hammering Norbert through 1 period. Just 1-0, but complete domination.

You may be right.

My initial thought was if forcing the 2 seed into the first round, the fair thing to do would be to set it so that they face the worst seeds possible within the travel and intra-conference parameters.

Plattsburgh can't face Naz because they're through to the QF because of travel for Adrian, can't face Suffolk because it would force an intraconference 1st round game.

If 600 is the new 500 it is not in the published manual. The 2022-23 Pre-Championship Manual on ncaa.org still references 500 miles.

Very happy to be wrong.

500 is hard 500...if they can get a flight for them, they have to fly.

600 was a one-year thing. It is back to 500 this year.

Plus, there's the hassle factor which can make busing easier.

Hamilton would have to bus to either Syracuse or Rochester. I don't know which airport in Michigan they would fly into, and then of course bus from there to Adrian. Add in all the time at the airports...

Very good bracket integrity until you get to the last two seeds, I can not understand why Hamilton doesn't get Suffolk and Middlebury get Nazareth unless it has something to do with distance restrictions.
 
Sad to say but contrary to what it says below Norwich will travel to Colby on Wednesday not the other way around.
