Discussion on Coaches Developing Players (copied from Princeton thread)

Re: Princeton 2010-2011

Re: Princeton 2010-2011

A disapointing weekend for the Princeton team. After losing to number 2 Cornell 1 0, Princeton lost their 2nd game of the weekend to Colgate 2 0, a team which they had beaten 2 0 just a few weeks ago. The coaches seem to be unsure as to who workes well together. The lines are constantly changing from week to week. I don"t see the reason why they changed the lines from a few weeks ago when they won 2 games against RPI & Union. I liked the frshman line of Mucha, Laing, & Butler and felt that Sterns working in the center position where she scored 2 goals was a better fit than her playing the offside wing. They can't afford giving up points to teams comming from behind in the 3rd period, they need to play well in all 3 periods, especialy playing into the 3rd with a lead.

Don't think they ever had the lead in either game this weekend, so not sure what you are alluding to there. As indicated in another thread, it seems to me that once you take Cornell, Harvard and Dartmouth out of the picture, the rest of the ECAC matchups have been, well, totally unpredictable. Speaks to the parity in the league. With parity, good D and good Tending will go a long way to winning those closely contested matchups.

Just a reference to past play in the last few weeks, not the games against Cornell or Colgate. Cornell stands alone IMO, Harvard and Dartmouth can be put in the totally unpredictable catagory.

"WOW" !! What is going on with Princeton? They looked like a much stronger team against Northeastern several weeks back.
On the other hand, I was quite impressed with BU. Poulin is very nice to watch. I have not seen her since she was 14 years old playing with that Ice Storm team.

Nice win by the Tigers today, getting a season-high 4 goals against Brown (although they should have scored twice as many). The loss against Yale on Friday was dispiriting given that they outshot the Bulldogs by 3 to 1. Best moment today was Danielle DeCesare getting her first goal. She was visibly ecstatic to get off the schneid. That it took her almost half the season to tally her first goal was indicative of how the Princeton season is going so far.

2 goals on 8 shots can be dispiriting. But give him credit, came right back with Weber the next day.

Re: Princeton 2010-2011

Weber was blameless in the Yale loss; the first goal came on a defensive breakdown, and the second was off a defenseman's skate (and both were on the penalty kill). Kampersal had no choice anyway--Seguin is recovering from an injury.

Weber is a solid goaltender, arguably the team MVP at this point. i was delighted that she played yesterday and got the shutout

Very true, the Tigers lose nothing with either goalie in net. I think Kampersal started the season with Seguin because Weber had a very bad outing in an early season exhibition.

5-0 win caps off a great weekend for the Tigers. Whatever they've got going, they should bottle it. They excelled in all aspects of the game today. I think the lines are coming together, with Romanchuk-DiCesare-Landry and the all-frosh line of Butler-Mucha-Laing providing a lot of firepower.

Makes one hopeful for the second half of the season.

Yes it does. I have always said the team has a very talented group of players. Hopefully they come back off break with the same effort againt a very good Boston College team.

The Tigers beat a depleted BC team today, 3-0. That's two shutouts in a row for Weber, three out of her last four games. Things really seem to be clicking now, I hope it can carry over to the game against Quinni on Monday.

After today's game, I'm starting to agree with you. She's got three shutouts in a row, four games out of five.

Weber is playing great, making some difficult saves, giving her team a chance to stay in the game. But don't forget you can't win games without putting the puck in the net and the team has been getting that done. The remaining games are all ECAC games and every point counts. The new year is off to a good start.

Re: Princeton 2010-2011

The tigers head out to play Clarkson and St Lawrence this week end after having a very productive 5 game home stance. Hopefully they can continue their success and earn some points before heading into a break. They return on the 28th & 29th at home against the same two teams.

In what way was BC depleted ?. They don't have any Canucks on their team.

BC is a one player team. If Molly is gone, the team is completely 100% depleted.

Next year is gonna be great.....
