DIII Posters' Play of the Year/All-Posters' Teams 2009-2010

Re: DIII Posters' Play of the Year/All-Posters' Teams 2009-2010

I was speaking with a College Recruiter some time ago and I asked him what he looks for in a player. "Is it strickly where he is positioned on the stats point total sheet?" I queried. He said he certainly looks at the points but he 'indexes' the goals column. I asked ... "how so?". He explained that an Even Strength Goal gets one point. A Power Play Goal gets .75 of a point. A Short-Handed Goal gets 1.5 points. An Empty Net Goal gets .25 points. With this in mind I present ..

Well, I only received a whopping 4 votes. I have results after the 4 votes, but before I post them, I'd like to give you all one more chance to submit votes. 4 is a bit small of a sample size.

Please, for those of you who haven't voted, get them in by 12pm EDT on Wednesday.

I'll try to get mine in. There's a lot to consider here ...

Re: DIII Posters' Play of the Year/All-Posters' Teams 2009-2010

Keep the votes coming guys.

I know the season is over now and at first glance, the ballot process looks a little bit overwhelming, but its really not too bad at all. I was able to do it all in about 10-15 minutes and I really looked into some of the stats too for some guys.

Cards (Nate),

has put a lot of work into this process this year and I think we should get a few more ballots in there for him to work with so we can get a decent selection pool to choose from and make the time he put into it this year more worthwhile.

(steps off Soap Box)

Happy Spring! Watch the D-I regionals this weekend to get one of your last chances to watch college hockey this year!

I'm trying to get to Albany for the East Regionals Denver, UNH, Cornell, and RIT? Very very cool:cool:

I understand your pain. And I suppose that's why I currently have 7 ballots, from a variety of teams, but ALL from eastern teams.

C'mon, Western Posters!

Cards, you received my votes, right?

Re: DIII Posters' Play of the Year/All-Posters' Teams 2009-2010

Thanks, hope we get a lot more votes, 7 is as bad as 4 only there is the odd vote to change the outcome. Come on West, you can't complain about Eastern bias if you don't vote. By the way, SNC was totally better this year in the playoffs, even without Kyle Jones. And Norwich was better too, without Rick Cleaver and Nikita Kirshirsky. I am not saying those two teams didn't deserve to be in the final four, it just that these two teams were evenly matched this year and that was proved in a double overtime championship game. Both teams were awesome and either one of them could have won the game. It is too bad we didn't do POTY after the championship, a lot more players would have been nominated from all 4 teams. Come on people, vote!!!!

Re: DIII Posters' Play of the Year/All-Posters' Teams 2009-2010

In - I'm not sure about my West defense choices, because I think defensemen contribute a lot more by keeping opponents off the score sheet than putting themselves on it.

Re: DIII Posters' Play of the Year/All-Posters' Teams 2009-2010

Alrighty, then!

I ended up with 9 ballots, with 1 representing the West, and the rest representing 4 different eastern Teams. It might not be the 20 the USCHO.com Poll uses for the team rankings, but it'll have to do for us!

The votes have been tallied, and here are your top 5 players this year:

Code:
Eric Selleck 24 (4)
Ryan Klingensmith 19 (3)
Neil Musselwhite	14 (1)
David Martinson 13
Mike Dahlinger 10

One First-Place vote fell outside of the top 5.

Congratulations to Eric Selleck, Oswego State, on being named the USCHO Fan Forum Posters' DIII Player of the Year!

Thanks for all the hard work Nate, nice to put a name to the title of CARDS rule the Burgh. My picks were a little off but not bad for a newbie. See you next season.
