I feel like that score would be reversed if we were still playing you guys.
There are about 15 scouts in the stands right now in Tropicana. Unless Dombrowski is being held back by Ilitch, there's no reason to have Price on the roster come midnight.

With all the rumors and questions of buy and/or sell concerning Price, Cespedes and Soria, etc, etc, etc--blah, blah, blah, I just can't help but think it was only a short while back when the Tigers had Verlander, Scherzer, Sanchez, Fister, and Porcello in the rotation. The Tigers couldn't keep those five together? Too much tinkering around with the line-up over the last two to three years for my taste.... But, I guess that's just the way of an MLB team these days.

The trouble with selling is that what you get back might not be what you thought. such as ian kroll, etc. I'm sure we thought that we were getting more for fister, who btw has been bad this year. So sure we can trade guys, and we are, but just doing that is absolutely no guarantee of anything more than some players who might or might not turn out to be contributors.
I hate to see Price go, Cespedes said he hoped he got signed in the off season by the tigers, so I hope to see him again, I'd re sign soria, and I really hope we get some starting pitching help.
I don't think the bp is as bad as hammer makes it out. Most of the guys have made strides this year, even rondon seems to be better lately. So I'd like to find some starters.
However if you said we were getting Bettances from the yankees, hell yeah.
Oh and if you listen to hammer, every manager for the last 15 years is a bum. So I pretty much ignore that part of it. It's not his fault. he makes some mistakes, just like everyone else, but overall he's not losing us ball games, the players are.

It's either trade our impending FA's or get draft picks when they leave. You choose which one you want. And Cespedes's contract is such that we won't even get a compensatory pick.
We were trying to win a World Series. Right now. That bullpen is not good enough to accomplish that. And our rookie manager, with absolutely no previous managerial experience at any level (a couple weeks in Arizona Fall League doesn't cut it) and minimal coaching experience, didn't get it done, either.
Our bullpen, even with Soria locking down the 9th, as advertised, was in near the bottom of the American League in nearly every metric. I'm not sure what you think you see there.
We're 3 games under .500 with 61 to go. This team is done, especially with the back half of this rotation. If you believe otherwise, you're fooling yourself, or you're delusional. So break it down now while you still can, and start building for 2016.

Ausmus did manage Israel in WBC qualifying, but they lost to Spain in the finals, partly because qualifying was during MLB season so they didn't have a full lineup.
But no experience beforehand doesn't mean he's bad. He's bad because he tries to outsmart himself, gives Bobby Williams a run for his money in worst quotes given to the press, and always appears scared or confused during shots to the dugout.

When you're right, you're right. The Tigers are going nowhere for the next x years until they get a pitching staff together. If they haven't waited too long already, 3 months of David Price could be worth 1/4 of a 2017 pitching staff all by himself, to the right team. No brainer. Sell now or get nothing when his contract is up. There's no way they can re-sign Price for Scherzer money with the other needs they have, and that is what he will command - a huge 7 or 8 year commitment.

I'm not agreeing on ausmus. I just think he's the fall guy. Detroit fans are real good at blaming someone, anyone. A new manager is not going to solve anything except give us someone else to blame.
Don't get me wrong, i'm ok with selling, but don't necessarily expect the team to be better because of it. You might get someone good, or you might get ian Krol.
