Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

7th inning, 2 on, 2 out, and we don't pinch hit for Kelly?

EDIT: Yup. That ended about as well as you'd expect.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

It's the bottom of the 9th in a 1-run game. Keep the goddamned ball in front of you. Plain and simple.

This is why you were a 28-year old minor leaguer.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

That ground ball to Kinsler? Would have been a game-ending double play. But no, let's belly-flop in the outfield instead.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

I really can't put this one on Nathan. That was a routine single to CF. Carrera darn near turned it into an inside-the-park walkoff.

This team specializes in the ridiculous.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

I meant his mannerisms & twitching.
Dumbarse play by the centerfielder.
Dang.....the SS almost made a fantastic play for you guys....sorry 'bout the comeback, gents.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

That water running that you guys hear? That's the 3-run bomb by Martinez that we just flushed down the toilet. The opportunity we just blew is going to require a double-flush.

I don't care about his twitching or mannerisms. He can scratch his butt for 20 minutes on the mound for all I care, provided he gets guys out. For a few years we had Fernando Rodney wear his hat crooked and wander all over the mound every time he got into a 3-1 count. But somehow, someway, he got guys out most of the time, so I really didn't care.

More like breaking out the plunger to break it up a little bit.

I disagree. He walks the tying run and hangs a slider that Suzuki plows to left center. yeah, the kid turned it into a double and the run scored, but no one can say that holding runners to 1st and (probably) 3rd would result into a DP next. Closer is suppose to do his job and Nathan has failed 7- 8 times now. They ****ed away a lead last night and snatched back the win. Tonight they got burned thinking they already snatched another one.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

KC lost last night. We could have been 2 up in the loss column, with KC looking at another potential loss in that suspended game with Cleveland next Monday night. That could have been the kill shot last night. And we blew it.

I disagree with the disagreement. I don't care what Nathan did before last night. Yes, he walked a guy, but he got burned by a rookie mistake, the absence of which would have given the inning a different complexion - not to mention the double play.

The error might have made the difference in that case... but what drives me nuts is a closer who walks batters every time out. There's got to be someone in the organization that can throw strikes. Nathan's ERA is also 5.10 all year, sit him down.

So, if your crystal ball is working so well, why can't you just tell us to stop worrying? Nathan blew the save and hung the rookie out to dry after. No telling what would have happened.

Why does David Price suck now?

Good question, other than Tampa knew something we are just finding out. He has been unspectacular other than in spurts. Can't judge the trade yet, but I'll go back to what I said before- the hole in centerfield is haunting us as long as Price is a .500 pitcher for us.
