Detroit Tigers, Volume 6: The Al Kaline edition

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 6: The Al Kaline edition

And what position is Jhonny gonna play next year? As far as Jackson you must be blind. Never said dump him. Said get him out of the leadoff spot. Then again every Tiger blog I have read says the same thing. I guess you saw the broken bat single but not the 10 K's from the leadoff hitter in 4 games! Infante should be leading off. His out was a better at bat than Jackson's hit in the 7th.

Every blog? You mean from those other 1000 armchair expert Tiger managers? (Including that media dolt Pat Caputo.)

Jackson is in a slump.. it happens. But you leave with the guy or gal you brought to the dance. The wild azz changes you are proposing are things you do in spring training. Somehow it was okay from April-September but it isn't in October? WTH are you talking about? Why don't you also suggest that Brookens take over for Leyland, too?

You want to know WHY the offense is suffering? It's not just Jackson.. it's Miggy's injury, Fielder's slump and a huge hole at the bottom of the lineup created by the aggregate of Avila, Iglesias, Kelly and Dirks. So, why are you fixated just on Jackson? Vmart and Infante have been the most consistent Tiger hitters, but they protect the others in the lineup because of where they are placed in the lineup.

As for Peralta... we aren't talking about next year yet- but I am guessing that he will be part of the mix unless Dombrowski pulls off a major trade that deals with the issue in left field and / or behind the plate. And what about thinking ahead about Hunter, too? He has not been the defensive dynamo he was ten years ago and may be as much of the offensive problem as Jackson is.

I may just be a fan... and I may not be completely correct... but what you are proposing is nothing more than reactionary nonsense. The Tigers pulled the same disappearing act last October in WS and the same "blow up the Tigers" blogs were rampant.

Ok I am just a fan also and might be wrong too. Austin Jackson is not a leadoff hitter in April, June, October, etc. What's the difference when you make the move if it needs to be made. Just maybe moving him from leadoff changes his mindset. He is clearly struggling and alot of it seems to be mental. Infante is more patient and more of a contact hitter. I guess if Leyland would just try to mix things up a little, this team might not have been shutout such a large percentage of the time. Hope it all works out tomorrow night but to be honest, I don't think Jimmy is pushing the right buttons. Peralta should be in the lineup and I credit him for that but not in LF. Cabrera should be at DH and strictly worried about hitting. He can't move. These things seem pretty clear.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 6: The Al Kaline edition

Major screwing around with the lineup at this juncture is nothing short of an obvious panic, and is an amateur-hour tactic at best. That's a sure way to get blown out of the house tomorrow. Professional managers, especially those that have managed for 25 years, do not do that, plain and simple. This is not Strat-O-Matic, this isn't Xbox.

The bottom line is, we've got to hit the ball, top to bottom. Prince has to get going. Miggy has to get a couple hits, even if they don't go over 400 feet. Jackson and Hunter have to get on base ahead of them. And Verlander is going to have to Verlander tomorrow. Otherwise, we go home instead of to Boston.

One game elimination, with Verlander on the mound. Score a few runs, advance. It's that simple. Oh, and Sonny Gray is starting for Oakland.

Yea tell Tony LaRussa that. He's the guy that actually wins World Series. Makes constant changes in post season. If you need proof look at 2011 and Rafael Furcal and Matt Holiday. What an amateur hour panic tactic that turned out to be.

Larussa should have at least 6 rings, with all the talented teams he ****ed away. Only Casey Stengel had more talent than Larussa has had over the last 60 years. Don't get me started on him.

Look. This is how we got here, and this is how we're going to finish, one way or another.

Exactly.

And another example would be the Yankees... all-star lineups year in and year out and they didn't win as much as they *should* have.

Yea great examples. You want to compare the Tigers sucesss to LaRussa and the Yankees? Please tell me more on how inept they are. I know, LaRussa should have 6 rings and I guess the Yankees *should* have won 40 by now. Clueless & Comical.

Hey, if you are going to be a doooshbag, I have a spot for you up in the bleachers at old Tiger Stadium, right next to the flag pole.

besides, genius, who is comparing the Tigers to the Larussa teams (Chi, Oak, Stl ??) Or the Yankees teams.

read it again...

All I've seen out of you is knee-jerk panic. Nothing of any intelligence to note. You sound like a 14 year old.

Peralta at SS and Kelly in LF. There's your lineup adjustment. Now go sit down. We've had Tiger threads for 8 seasons and all of a sudden people show up in the postseason with nonsense. Gotta love it.

If the Tigers win tonight, Iggy guarantees himself a World Series share.

Shut up! Didn't know you owned the thread and really don't care how long you have been posting on it. I've seen nothing out of you but sarcasm and nothing constructive on why this team is shut out so much yet nothing changes. Personally don't think Leyland is doing a good job. My opinion. If you don't like it, too ****in bad. Hope he proves me wrong.

Go play, junior. Never heard a peep out of you during the season, did we?

No. Nothing to add to a thread that has you make 10 consecutive posts and add a homerun light every so often. Very informative! I will now go play.

On another note. If anyone is interested in going to game 2 at Fenway, if they win, email me. Loge box 117 Row FF at face value($200). Committed to Jets/Steelers game. 4 tix and I would like to see them go to a Tiger fan. Thanks.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 6: The Al Kaline edition

That's still more than you've contributed.

I think we're done. Enjoy the game. And let's hope Verlander doesn't get bombed, thus making this whole lineup purse fight irrelevant.

Runners on first and second and Peralta meekly grounds to third. Going to the bottom of the 7th, up 3-0.
