Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 6: The Al Kaline edition
Every blog? You mean from those other 1000 armchair expert Tiger managers? (Including that media dolt Pat Caputo.)
Jackson is in a slump.. it happens. But you leave with the guy or gal you brought to the dance. The wild azz changes you are proposing are things you do in spring training. Somehow it was okay from April-September but it isn't in October? WTH are you talking about? Why don't you also suggest that Brookens take over for Leyland, too?
You want to know WHY the offense is suffering? It's not just Jackson.. it's Miggy's injury, Fielder's slump and a huge hole at the bottom of the lineup created by the aggregate of Avila, Iglesias, Kelly and Dirks. So, why are you fixated just on Jackson? Vmart and Infante have been the most consistent Tiger hitters, but they protect the others in the lineup because of where they are placed in the lineup.
As for Peralta... we aren't talking about next year yet- but I am guessing that he will be part of the mix unless Dombrowski pulls off a major trade that deals with the issue in left field and / or behind the plate. And what about thinking ahead about Hunter, too? He has not been the defensive dynamo he was ten years ago and may be as much of the offensive problem as Jackson is.
I may just be a fan... and I may not be completely correct... but what you are proposing is nothing more than reactionary nonsense. The Tigers pulled the same disappearing act last October in WS and the same "blow up the Tigers" blogs were rampant.
And what position is Jhonny gonna play next year? As far as Jackson you must be blind. Never said dump him. Said get him out of the leadoff spot. Then again every Tiger blog I have read says the same thing. I guess you saw the broken bat single but not the 10 K's from the leadoff hitter in 4 games! Infante should be leading off. His out was a better at bat than Jackson's hit in the 7th.
