Scherzer is available today out of the bullpen under the right circumstances. Probably to bridge the gap between Fister and Benoit with a tight lead.

If the top of the first inning was any indication, this is going to a very long, disappointing day.

Already disappointing. No lineup changes. I like Austin Jackson but he will NEVER be a leadoff hitter. Should be a priority next year to get an outfielder with some speed that can bat leadoff. Goodbye Jhonny. Another leadoff guy for Oakland on base. Scherzer on short rest would not be throwing these beach balls!!!

Hope this works. Don't agree at all. If he was OK to pitch he should have started and went 4 or 5 innings.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 6: The Al Kaline edition

That was fan interference. Not, as it turns out, that it mattered.
Although if the fielder catches it, then the two-out RBI doesn't happen.

I doubt Reddick would have caught that ball. It was above the yellow line and it would have hit the fence (above the yellow line) if the fan had not touched it. It might have even gone over the fence. Inconclusive video evidence. HR for V-Mart.

Why? You have to get to Game 5 before you worry about who pitches in it.

And besides, Verlander will go any potential Game 5 on full rest.

8-6 final.

Max has our last three wins.

Back to the Juggalos.

I was just saying bringing in a non-reliever into a bases loaded situation is ballsy, but it paid off.

Yep it is. and so is putting your shortstop in left field. That worked out too. and leaving Fister in as long as he did, that was ballsy too. I thought this was one of the reasons baseball is so great. what a game.!

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 6: The Al Kaline edition

Yeah, so much for cutting Jhonny loose.
And huzzah for Jackson. Got the tie breaking RBI, no matter how ugly it was and eventually scored on the GW hit by Infante. But yeah, let's dump him too.

We can't count on JV throwing another game five shutout, so let's hope we can put together 5 or so runs again and see what happens on Thursday.

And what position is Jhonny gonna play next year? As far as Jackson you must be blind. Never said dump him. Said get him out of the leadoff spot. Then again every Tiger blog I have read says the same thing. I guess you saw the broken bat single but not the 10 K's from the leadoff hitter in 4 games! Infante should be leading off. His out was a better at bat than Jackson's hit in the 7th.

And if we are going to put the best team on the field tomorrow night, can someone tell me why VMart shouldn't be catching, Cabrera at DH and Peralta at 3B?

Ummmm.... Because Vmart's knees are held together with chicken wire and bubble gum!! He gets em achy now, we wouldn't be able to use em when we go to a National League home field.

So let me understand this. He will be OK to catch 3 games in a row in the NL ballpark, if they make it. He was able to catch several regular season games in NL ballparks. He will not be able to catch one game to advance to the next round with a days rest before and after. I see.
