Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 6: The Al Kaline edition

Yep, we got Nathan.

Deletions this season: Tuiososopo, Pena, Benoit, Fielder, Infante, Peralta, Fister, Veras.

Additions: Nathan, Kinsler, Lombardozzi and two rookie LHP's that DD is quite defensive about doing "due diligence" for. B***D.

We lost two back-ups, two grand slam tossers, a bonafide 4th starter who actually pitched well in the playoffs, a huge $$ playoff hitting bust and the two guys that actually did hit in the playoffs.

But we resigned Coke, Smyly is in the rotation and we'll have Castellanos at 3b. woo-hoo.

We're still a bat and an arm (or 2) short in the pen. The rest of the stuff I can live with, I guess.

Peralta got WAAAY too big of a contract. That will bite the Cards in the shorts. Kinsler for Infante might be a bit of an upgrade. Lombardozzi is an upgrade from Ramon Santiago, and is probably our Plan B if Castellanos is hitting .166 next May.

You forgot about the one other big re-signing that was done. That would be one Don Kelly on a one-year, $1 million dollar contract.

That is what I was thinking, too as far as a safey net for Castellanos. But that is a heck of a price to pay: Lombardozzi for Fister. Those two LHP better contribute in a big way, right away.

The other thing, if Martinez and Hunter don't have +.300 seasons again, Miggy's protection in the lineup goes away. Jackson will now become a bottom of the order option, so his strikeouts will not be as big a factor- unless Kinsler totaling craps the bed.

The Cards may have overpaid for Peralta, but these days everyone is overpaying. We'll miss his pop, as we will Infante's. Don't discount Fielder's season performance. He drove in a ton of runs and protected Miggy.

As for Benoit and Veras- they were paid to get outs in the clutch and didn't. Benoit wants too much, but if the price drops, he could be back.

Tui and Pena were reserves so we know every season there is movement there- but our catching situation is a sore spot, especially since we are one concussion from a season ending situation for Avila.

And yes, I forgot old #DKB. Rock on.

Socialism is evil, plain and simple. The poor suffer MORE under it than any other form of economics or Government, except maybe Communism. THAT is why we need to STOP ELECTING them in this country, i.e. the democrats."

Boy, that escalated quickly.

Low OBP guy. Hasn't been above .320 in four years. Good against LHPs, poor against righties. 33 years old, too. How long do the legs hold up?

Platoon guy in LF with Dirks, it looks like.

Yup. Just like the Wings now. Older, less stars, more grinders. I know I'm excited.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 6: The Al Kaline edition

You're gonna love this one, then.

Joba Chamberlain. 1 year, 2.5.

Ummmmm......why?

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 6: The Al Kaline edition

Omar Infante to the Royals. I hate to lose this guy, especially to a division rival. He's gonna kill us.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 6: The Al Kaline edition

Ugh. I would have spent that to keep him in Detroit, even as a setup man.
