Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

Bases loaded in the 2nd, 1 out, you can guess what happened.

I think we're done here for today.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

Just a matter of time before the pen blows it.

I'm not sold on Cleveland though, so maybe if the Tigers can get their heads out of their collective arses we'll still have a shot at this. Bleh.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

It won't be the pen. Marlboro Jimmy will manage this away before the 8th inning, if today holds to form. It doesn't matter. We're done hitting for the day. I've seen this movie waaay too many times for my taste. Score 1-2 in the 1st and go to sleep until Tuesday.

And I agree about Cleveland. When Justin Masterson is your ace, I'm not exactly trembling in fear.

Hey, the April In The D girl is still here. :)

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

Hard to fault Inge there.

And then Benoit not only blows the save, he's essentially lost this game in the 8th. That's where you put the blame today.

Oops.

5-3 loss. Swept in Cleveland.

We haven't won in a week.

What's worse: being swept by Cleveland or being swept by Kansas City? :(
Discuss.

If this keeps up, it's going to be a looooooooooooooooooooong summer.

Tigers are playing more like this:

That makes me giggle uncontrollably too much to be how the Tigers are playing.

Leave it to Twitch to find a video of a cartoon cat attached to a Pop Tart.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

I'd be surprised if Austin Jackson isnt in Toledo by the end of the week.

And Verlander's over 120 pitches in the 6th inning with 1 out.

AVILA - 2!

3-3, bottom 7

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

Sure, we just gunned down Granderson at 2nd, but Valverde is off a notch tonight, so this is going to get bumpy yet.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

Yep. Valverde's hurt again. He's missing the same way he was the 2nd half of last year.

EDIT: He's not going to make it out of this inning.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

Okay, let's see how many runs Valverde is going to give up before MJ comes and gets him. He might throw 40 pitches this inning.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

7 straight losses. Tough way to lose this one. Verlander throws about 166 pitches in 6 innings, and then Valverde blows it in the 9th, and I'm convinced he's hurt again.

Ugh.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

Seven in a row and we're going against CC tomorrow. Shoot me now.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

They're going to have to make at least two moves this week. Martinez comes off the DL, and we're going to have to do something with Austin Jackson, defense or no defense. We can't have a CF hitting .188 on the 2nd of May.

And we're going to have to have that conversation about Magglio. You know which one I'm talking about. He's down to .151 with absolutely no production whatsoever this season.
