CABRERA!!!

5-2 Mets, bottom 4

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

And Coke is gone in the 5th without getting anyone out. Tiger Woods never teed off like the Mets have the last two games. The pitching has been downright awful.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

The stadium reporter girl just brought Rod some garlic bread from a ballpark restaurant called The Jungle, and Rod had the line of the night. He asked her if she brought him some Jungle Juice. She had not. His reply: "You should have". I agree. We all might need a drink before the 7th inning stretch.

8-2 now, as Jackson butchers a single to center.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

2nd and 3rd with none out, and we drown both of them on the basepaths.

Say goodnight.

CABRERA - 2!!!

8-5 Mets, bottom 6

That one almost hit the Al Kaline statue. No exaggeration. People don't go that far on vacation.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

Grounder to 2nd............under Raburn's glove. Might not have made a difference. Tough play.

10-6 in the 7th. One of those nights.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

All right. It's 11-8 in the 8th and I have a fatigue headache. Someone is going to have to come from the pen and finish this one out. You know where everything is and how to use it.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

13-8. 9 runs scored with two outs. I'm turning this off.

Edit: 14-8 before I got around to it.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

Phil Coke back to the pen, Furbush in the rotation. Coke just couldn't overcome mistakes. He could roll for 3-4 innings, and then one error, then boom, 3 runs score.

Daniel Schlereth sent to Toledo. Brayan Villareal back to Detroit.

And now the bad news. Albuquerque to the DL with elbow issues. Lester Oliveros recalled. Uh-oh...

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

It's been about two weeks since a starter not named Justin Verlander won a game. It's been almost a month since someone not named Verlander or Scherzer won a game.

Awesome.

The AL Central sucks. We should just let the Twins win it so they can keep their streak of being swept by the Yankees intact, because all the Tigers will manage is probably a win when Verlander pitches followed by a handful of blowout losses.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

At this rate Jacob Turner will be our #2 starter by the time the postseason rolls around. We're not too far from Porcello being replaced in the rotation. He's been awful for 4 straight starts.

Nah, that movie is old. You guys can at least score runs. :)

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

Two things, right off the bat:

1) The Giants are more Ryan Raburn than Barry Bonds these days at the plate. Only one hitter in their lineup tonight is hitting over .270. Don't give them free baserunners.

2) Great play in LF by Wells on that DP. But the fan that battled Wells for that ball needs to get the hell out of the way. We don't need to be interfering with our outfielders so our ignorant asses can get a ball.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

Penny really settled down after the 2nd and has been brilliant for most of the night. It's a shame he's probably looking at a ND at best.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

All right. Let's see if Oliveros knows how to throw a strike on a consistent basis.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

Well, he does, but he pitches awful high in the strike zone.
