And a double play promptly erases the base runner and ends the 8th. Verlander has faced the minimum.

I think if it was an inch closer, or any bit closer he would have rang him up. It was just just a little too outside. Great pitch though.

That was a bright spot to ride now. Of course the naysayers are yapping about the Jays having their best two hitters out of the lineup, too. Don't care, it was a masterpiece. Now, if they can take the next two games to get to .500 again....

From what I read in the Toronto papers this morning the Jays all said Verlander was unhitable. The fans booed the ball four call on Arencibia!

Credit the Jays, their fans and COTU papers- I am talking about the national hacks that just had to find something to detract.

And they might have broken Don Kelly's foot clean off his leg two pitches later. I guessing someone gets one in the back, courtesy of Albequerque.

And Valverde has to come into a 5-run game, although it is not a save situation. Ryan Perry can't get through an inning with an 8-run lead. I'm starting to wonder why we've drafted college relief pitchers in the 1st round. First Matt Anderson, then Ryan Perry, and somewhere Chance Ruffin is on the side of a milk carton.

AL Batting Leaders: 1. Bautista (Tor) .359, 2. Joyce (TB) .351, 3. Kubel (Min) .347

Kubel is pretty much the only bright spot this season in our batting order.
