Hammer
We'll be back.
To recap, streaker and I came to an agreement this offseason that if the Tigers reach 70 wins in the 2010 regular season, he will be kind enough to provide me a pitcher of beer of my choice after the season, in a venue yet to be determined. If the Tigers come in with 69 wins or fewer, I will be kind enough to return the favor in the same manner described above.
Kill the 2009 thread. I'm going to Florida a week from Sunday, so this might be the last chance to get this started properly.
Pitchers and catchers report later this week. Friday, I think. We've got holes to fill. If I had to guess, Johnny Damon is going to be a Tiger by the end of the week. I guess that kinda-sorta settles who will be in the outfield, but we've got issues at 2B as well as on the back half of the rotation. If Bonderman cannot lock down the #4 spot (which is certainly not a given), we've got problems there, too.
On the positive side, Verlander is locked up long term, Porcello is going to be here for a bit, and Scherzer is all but penciled in as the #3 as a replacement for Edwin Jackson. Jose Valverde is expected to close, assuming we can find our way into the 9th inning with something that resembles a lead. I expect Alex Avila to find his way into the lineup on a regular basis in the 2nd half of the season, and Miguel Cabrera should continue hitting high balls into the stands instead of pouring highballs down his throat.
That's all I got for now. Let spring training begin.
