Detroit Tigers 2010, Part 2: Wanted: Hitting. Gerald Laird need not apply

Re: Detroit Tigers 2010, Part 2: Wanted: Hitting. Gerald Laird need not apply

Bill Lajoie has died

He was the General Manager of the '84 Tigers. That makes 3 people associated with the '84 Tigers this year. Someone go check on Roger Craig, Alex Grammas and Chet Lemon.

Henning's piece to Lajoie was pretty good, also. He did have an eye for talent. Tom Gage was spot on.

Zach Miner signs a minor league deal with KC. I hope it pans out for him. I was hoping he would have been invited back considering my confidence level in our bullpen and especially in the back half of our starting rotation is not high.

I'm not a big Zach Miner fan. I got the feeling he could get lit up big time in KC if he's not careful.

As for the back half of the Tiger rotation, it's shaping up to be two of the following: Phil Coke, Perfecto Boy, Bonderman, and..............Brad Penny?!?!? I don't know what kind of face to make here.

Exactly. Can V go on two days rest? ;)

Oh- are you going to be around next weekend... I'm getting.. thirsty.

Adrian-MSOE is next weekend. That one is going to take precedence, especially given their history.

You two could pull the double on Saturday. Adrian game is at 3 on Saturday, then the Michigan game would be at 7pm. You guys might be a little late for the puck drop at Yost, but its doable.

I would join you gentlemen, at least for the Adrian game I think, but I'm playing with rocks in Ann Arbor on Saturday.

That would be one hellva accomplishment, considering that Saturday night's game is in Big Rapids.

Next call is yours, then. Catch a Tigers game maybe?

White Sox seem to be making all the deals this off season, and its making me nervous about the AL Central race in 2011.

But they seem to do that every year, and most of the time it doesn't quite pan out. So I guess I should relax a bit.

I like this deal. $3 mil for a starting pitcher is next to nothing in today's market. If it works out, they stole his services in broad daylight. If it doesn't work out, well, they've eaten worse contracts in the past, and may eat another worse one this spring.

Tigers re-sign Gallaraga for one year (if they don't package him, first.)
