Detroit Tigers, 2009, Part III: How long does it take for Leyland to screw this up?

Well, bring on the White Sox.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. We got a split, which is acceptable at this point. Get two this weekend, or get one and hope that Grienke pops the Twins this weekend, as I don't think the Royals are getting more than one in that series.

Up by six and the Twins are still throwing at the Tigers. Stay classy Minnesota.

I'll never understand why the Tigers get warned for the Twins throwing at them three times.

Neither does Jimmy Leyland and he gets run for it.

EDIT: Bonderman doesn't mean much for this next series. May not be a bad idea for the Tigers to "accidentally miss a pitch" into somebody's ribs next inning.

And in case you're curious, the Twins announcers are still whining about Thames slide and how that should have been warning.

Delmon is the last player I would have plunked, but nice work by Bonderman.

Twins announcers: "The Tigers were upset with the warning" Yeah, not the three balls thrown at them.

I'm concerned by the pitching matchups, considering how poorly they did against Peavy at the Cell, how they never really hit Danks well and that there's a rookie in between. But if they really want it, the chance is in their hands. It's just too bad they had a waste a decent outing from Robertson.

If that's a decent outing from Robertson, can we cut him already?

Well, we also performed poorly all season against Pavano....until last night. We'll see.

Like you said, it's in our hands. We need two, and I'm not picky about how we get them. For all I care we can throw Kenny Rogers and the corpse of Schoolboy Rowe as long as we get the two we need.

Classic Jim Price, looking to make lemonade out of today's pitching:

I paraphrase, but the gist was, "Gallaraga looks like his old self, maybe an option this weekend". Of course he followed that when pressed by Dan Dickerson about what has been wrong this year: "well, his slider and cutter weren't biting, so everything just went into the wheelhouse". You think 1 inning in mop up really showed that he is an option? :o

Here's hoping the Tigers beat the Yankees.

Well, he didn't hit anybody in the buttcheek, and a ball didn't bounce off of the RenCen, so that's progress, I suppose.

Re: Detroit Tigers, 2009, Part III: How long does it take for Leyland to screw this up?

This whole year the Tigers seemed to grind things out and remain on top.
They lose ...when they should win,.. and we dump on them.
They surprise us ...when we've written them off...and we forgive them.:o
They have made us sweat to the bitter end of so many games.:(

I want them to win in the worst way....,but the way things have gone this year it wouldn't surprise me at all to see them clinch it in Minnie stranding the winning run on 2nd base.

Then we will be able to debate or question the poor SOB who will have to start Game 1 against the Yankees........and we'll forgive him.:)

Go Tigers !
God Bless Ernie !

Well, from everything I've heard and read today, Game 1 of the ALDS will be on Wednesday, so that may be Verlander if we sew this thing up quickly. Remember, this thing can end on any given night now.

I saw the highlights, and cry me a river. That first pitch simply got away from him, totally unintentional. Then the Tigers' guy committed a cardinal sin with that AHEM "slide" that was completely uncalled for.

The second beaning I'd like to say was unintentional, but I think I know better, and will guess that it was meant to at least come really close and if it hit the Tiger, so be it.

The third one was pretty obvious, IMO, as was the Tigers beanball.

In summary, the Tigers are the ones that made all the shenanigans start, with that AHEM "slide."

Either way, you're probably in the playoffs, and congrats.

I'm surprised Mijares wasn't suspended.

I suspect the Twins will deal with him accordingly. And by the Twins, I mean the players, not the organization.

Delmon Young gets to throw a baseball at him?
