15 straight retired.

Since this is a new thread, I'm going to have to find the homer light, but the way we're hitting, I suspect we're not going to need it until at least tonight. :(

And the ****er who hits .196 leads off with a double. Awesome.

Now would be a very good time for Inge to go shopping at the Gap.

It figures. Cock**** around with the runners on base in the first four innings and wonder why you lose when you only score 1.

Huuuuge bailout for Nathan on that third pitch to Polanco. He gets a called strike because he missed the strike zone by less than he did on the first two.

Well, some consolation with Granderson's teaser in the tenth. Still, this game had disaster written all over it with all the base traffic they left.

Let's see what the ace does tonight.

A colossal choke job. This should have been a 3-1 or 4-1 win. I guess it is hard to swing the bat with one hand around your neck.

What, you don't agree?

Tonight is going to tilt the season, one way or the other. Lose and we're tied with 5 to go, with momentum clearly on the Twins' side. Win and we put Minnesota in a situation where they have to win tomorrow to avoid being put on the verge of elimination.

Or at least a 2-1 win. Unless Thomas tripped between second and third, Lamont should have sent him home on Cabrera's single early in the game. With the way this team hits, I'll take my chances testing the arm of a guy who normally DHs.

Q: "How long does it take for Leyland to screw this up?"
A: 2 hours, 52 minutes.

Of course I agree. But how many more times do we have to hear about how the Tigers beat themselves? The Twins even offered to let them off of the hook in the 9th and they couldn't capitalize on their generosity. The difference (and I hate to paraphrase Rod Allen, but I will) is that the Twins almost always make their chances count and the Tigers don't. Too many examples in this game.

The box score says it was "Weather: 7 degrees, cloudy".

They were 1/2 right. 57 degrees at game time. Cooler than that for the nightcap.
