Detroit Lions 2011: If I slip and fall, I can Suh and get a Fairley large settlement

Re: Detroit Lions 2011: If I slip and fall, I can Suh and get a Fairley large settle

It's tough to win when the NFL is out to get you.

Re: Detroit Lions 2011: If I slip and fall, I can Suh and get a Fairley large settle

I had to turn it off after the refs blew the third call, took away a TD. Tuned in half way through the 4th in time to see the refs blow another, all in favor of GB. After ten years of watching crappy football, now I have to watch crappy officiating!?!?!

Re: Detroit Lions 2011: If I slip and fall, I can Suh and get a Fairley large settle

Please, everyone knows that it's kickers that are out to get the Bills.

And the team's front office, the league that wants them to move to Los Angeles, their own coaching staff. I can go on.

Re: Detroit Lions 2011: If I slip and fall, I can Suh and get a Fairley large settle

I really hate everything about the state of Wisconsin. I've never seen such horrible officiating. Why won't they let the players decide it on the field?
I'll never watch another Packer game. It's not worth the aggravation.

Hey now. We can't be held responsible for Walt Coleman's follies. We at least tried to help the cause by playing the JV team.

Schwartz needs to earn himself a fine this week for ripping the officiating. What a farking joke.

This game was like going all in with a full house and the opponent hitting quads on the river.

Saints win in a massacre. Brees throws for 8 TDs and 675 yards, and runs two in for good measure. Book it. Done.

Re: Detroit Lions 2011: If I slip and fall, I can Suh and get a Fairley large settle

I'm certainly not going to deny it: You guys got screwed.

Good luck against NO next week. I'm definitely glad there's no chance of GB having to go into the dome.

Re: Detroit Lions 2011: If I slip and fall, I can Suh and get a Fairley large settle

You know what I can see happening?

Brees fires off 400 yards and 4 TDs in the first half. Already beaten, the Lions decide to take out all their ref frustrations on the season and cheapshot Brees out for the next year.

This scares me.

The greatest thing about today's game was that the backup QB they stuck out there, Flint or something, set a record as the greatest quarterback performance in Green Bay history. Now, he's in the record books as the greatest Packer of all time whether or not he ever plays again in a game that matters. There will be no asterisk with the details.

I'm pretty sure they can easily take up a collection to pay it off for him.

Personally, I think they change the replay challange rule to where you can use the flag whenever you still have a timeout. That and they should be able to have somebody who can call down to the field to tell the refs to take a look as well.

Re: Detroit Lions 2011: If I slip and fall, I can Suh and get a Fairley large settle

So, am I to understand that since they didn't rule the TD a "scoring play" there was no auto-review? Because they have to review every scoring play, right? (new rule this season)

Re: Detroit Lions 2011: If I slip and fall, I can Suh and get a Fairley large settle

That would be correct.

If I am calculating right, Stafford hit 5,000 yards this year, too, right? He went for over 500 today, and had over 4,500 coming into this afternoon, if I read correctly.

EDIT: Stafford finished 3rd in the league with 5,038 yards passing, and Megatron led the league with 1,681 receiving yards.

According to NFL.com, Saints-Lions is a Saturday game.

Such BS. If there is a possible scoring play (like the play today), they should review that. A glaring inconsistency in the new rule, IMO.

Add to that the refs are afraid to blow the whistle after a fumble because they can't overturn a whistle. So like the first blown call, Detroit had to challenge to get the right call. Then it happened again but this time there was no camera angle to show when the ball came out. Hence, they couldn't overturn a bad call. Then, the wrong call on the TD where Detroit couldn't challenge.

Actually, I do like the "let the play play out" instead of prematurely blowing the whistle. It lets the play finish (or "finish"), while allowing a challenge somewhere in there. Obviously there is a slippery slope in allowing unlimited challenges, but at least the refs are doing the best according to the rules.
