Denver vs New Hampshire 3/29 NCAA Northeast Regional

Re: Denver vs New Hampshire 3/29 NCAA Northeast Regional

From the Denver Post a few minutes ago:

"DU held a practice at the arena Thursday afternoon, and Gwozdecky announced that Finnish sophomore Juho Olkinuora will start in goal. Though the Wildcats beat DU 6-4 in a Nov. 24 game at Magness Arena this season, Olkinuora did not play. Sam Brittain, who allowed five goals after DU had a 3-0 lead, was the goalie."

I agree. They gave Providence a lot of space as well. I feel the D needs to step up a little sooner. They need to be a little more physical.[/QUOTE

yes very guilty of giving away the blue line and backing in ... fear of getting beat , also not an issue on the large sheet

A good portion of the backing in is system based not ice sheet based. You may not agree but UNH all year has played a system where the D-men on a rush against try to slow the attack giving up the blueline and pushing it outside. The back checking forwards are to assist and prevent the move like Diamond pulled to the middle of the ice. The idea is to make any passed long through 2 d-men and give DeSmith much better angles to work with.

Many of the teams that stand up at the blueline like Providence the forward is already back when those "stand-ups" happen so there are more bodies. UNH tends to play that extra forward higher in the neutral zone on a standard up ice ruch trying to get the puck eariler for a counter attack.

I'd love to see Boone on TV, but was wondering if he was even in the building?

Re: Denver vs New Hampshire 3/29 NCAA Northeast Regional

I hope you guys get better referees than the Lowell/Wisconsin game. These guys are terrible.

Re: Denver vs New Hampshire 3/29 NCAA Northeast Regional

Are they WCHA refs? Cause that would make sense.

The W isn't fairing so well so far, lets hope DU can represent!

r
Refs in the NCAAs are not from a league represented in the game.

CCHA refs. Actually those are the best we got, and that's them on a good day.

Just ask former Michigan assistant and now Michigan Tech head coach Mel Pearson after a December game with CCHA refs.

Over last 4/5 years CCHA refs have gotten progressively worse to becoming consistently horrible. I've seen atrocious officiating more than a couple CCHA games this season.

Could those announcers be anymore pro Denver on ESPNU.......And unlike those idiots I'll tell you why UNH does not do well in Manchester. That is a tiny AHL rink when they are used to playing on an Olympic sheet at UNH that favors their offensive style. They skated circles around Denver tonight even in the small rink.

I think it makes sense. Which market is going to have more people watching, less people at the game?

They were all about Yale in the Minn game.
