Denver vs New Hampshire 3/29 NCAA Northeast Regional

Re: Denver vs New Hampshire 3/29 NCAA Northeast Regional

Could those announcers be anymore pro Denver on ESPNU.......And unlike those idiots I'll tell you why UNH does not do well in Manchester. That is a tiny AHL rink when they are used to playing on an Olympic sheet at UNH that favors their offensive style. They skated circles around Denver tonight even in the small rink.

So UNH are the east coast Minnesota. They don't lose games, it's the ice that screws them.

Re: Denver vs New Hampshire 3/29 NCAA Northeast Regional

As always, in every sport, I'm extremely unimpressed with east coast fans.

Re: Denver vs New Hampshire 3/29 NCAA Northeast Regional

I am pretty sure the East Coast fans are unimpressed with WCHA hockey after the display from Wisconsin and Denver today
I'm pretty sure all fans are unimpressed with the WCHA today. ;)

No, unlike those WCHA announcers, I am just stating the fact that UNH and the other team you mention use a big rink to their advantage during the regular season and it is in fact not home field advantage to have few 100 extra fans in a regional cheering you on a small rink that takes that advantage away.

Yes, just like Minnesota. Except UNH overcame this huge burden tonight.

Exacty....:D

No but don't say that "Ohhhhh the east regional is in Manchester, 1 hour from UNH and is a HUUUUGGGEE advantage that Denver can't overcome". A 60% full arena is devastating to a WCHA team....... Then go on to state that UNH is 0-4 at Manchester.......hmmmmm that HUGE crowd advantage must not be that important.

Re: Denver vs New Hampshire 3/29 NCAA Northeast Regional

Congrats to UNH. Your guys had our number this year. Good luck the rest of the way.

Re: Denver vs New Hampshire 3/29 NCAA Northeast Regional

Nice win tonight. I would have said it's tough to beat a team four times in one season, but that theory went out the window last Saturday night when Lowell beat us for the 4th time. This game sets up a fascinating contrast in styles - the high, flying, shall we say "not as defensively conscious" Wildcats vs the defensive-minded Riverhawks (who really capitalized on sloppy Wisconsin play tonight). This could be a great one! Good luck!!

By the way, I'm assuming we'll see more fans tomorrow night? What's up with that? Has it gotten to the point where people are saying "They've disappointed me too many times so I'm not buying into it?" It seemed pretty subdued on TV - even when UHN scored it wasn't particularly raucous. And where were all these billions of Lowell fans that were going to pack the Verizon Wireless center? I can't believe it's because it's Easter weekend - after all, New England is practically a pagan region now...

Yes - many of the UNH faithful, as has been mentioned ad nauseum in UNH threads, reached a point where they stopped opening their wallets. Partly due to disappointment and partly due to an administration that bled them dry and then treated em like garbage and snubbed their noses at their supporters while doing so.

Case in point: After 11 years of being a season ticket holder and many of those involved traveling to about 80% of their road games - this was the first game I bought tickets for in almost 3 years. Happy I did, still bringing tremendously low expectations to tomorrow nights funeral

I wasn't being critical as much as just openly wondering. We are on these threads constantly all year and now that this is the time of year we've been waiting for, people stay home. I just don't get it - unless, like I said, the economy is really having a much greater effect then perhaps people are willing to admit. I know it's a lot of money and I know people are hurting. I was just wondering if it's that or if it's just a "jinx" thing with UNH in Manchester. Personally, after watching Wisconsin I'm even more upset that BU isn't there. At least we lost 1-0 and gave Lowell a great game. Wisconsin was so bad I don't even think they deserve the benefit of the doubt regarding perhaps just not being able to sustain the emotion after their improbable WCHA tournament win. They were awful - and that's not taking anything away from Lowell, who absolutely capitalized on every opportunity they were given. I remember 2009 when the place was absolutely flooded with UNH fans everywhere who were loud and raucous. What happened in four years? I was really looking forward to that atmosphere this year.

When UNH beat Miami in the 1st game of the 2011 NE Regionals in Manchester, the economy was arguably worse, but as I recall, the atmosphere in 2011 was pretty good.(We then lost to Notre Dame the next night.) There were definitely more UML fans than UNH supporters last night, and I'd bet that the edge in crowd support will be for UML rather than UNH tonight, as they are gathering fans of fallen teams on their bandwagon. I do wish I saw a bigger showing of UNH students last night.

Sure didn't look on TV like there were more UNH fans.
