Denver @ tUMD - Friday 12/11/09

Re: Denver @ tUMD - Friday 12/11/09

DU seems to be having trouble winning faceoffs so far.

Re: Denver @ tUMD - Friday 12/11/09

Considering its 19 below with the wind chill, you may not appreciate this, but it's raining n SoCal and I have a fire in the fireplace.;)

BTW: among the "Stinkeyisms" frequently heard is his reference to a "saucer pass." Now I've called and watched quite a few hockey games over the years and never heard that expression. What does it refer to?

I believe puck flat across the ice. Easier to handle and control.

Its lifting the puck up a few inches off of the ice over a defenders stick and putting it on your teammates blade for a tip-in or one-timer. Murray used to have a 4 X 4 that he put on the ice in practice that the players would have to make a pass over to their linemate in a drill to work on that skill. As DG said you want to keep the puck from being wobbly so its goes right on the blade of your teammmate's stick

A pass where the passing player does so by lifting the puck over the defender's stick and the puck stays flat and rotates (much like a frisbee or saucer) and lands flat on the ice and hopefully on the stick of a teammate.

I bow to your superior knowledge. :)

Thank you. That just proves you're never too old (in my case, way too old, to learn something).

Nobody asked, but my inspiration for play by play was Lloyd Petit who did the Blackhawks on WGN. He was a "shot and a goal" guy and so am I. "He shoots, he scores" is so. . . .Canadian

"Weasel in a Popcorn Bucket" just took a 1-0 lead over NoDak halfway though the first.
