Got called for jury duty yesterday but excused. I went dressed like Henry Gibson in Blues Brothers, but that didn't get me outta there. It was the fact that my niece used to be married to a Phoenix cop, yessssssssss. She and I agreed that at least he was good for something.

The defendant was an african american lady charged with aggavated assault on a Phoenix cop. And hers was the only black face in the courtroom. I was reminded of the Richard Pryor line: I went down to the court house for a little justice, and that's who was there, just us.

Maybe you want to volunteer for a certain case in Tucson which should be an easy verdict.

Among the countless tragedies of that case: nobody put that a*shole's lights out. Which means during prospective trials (federal, state) we're gonna hear about him and his pathetic life for weeks or months on end. I don't know if I could stand it. Convicting him should be a fairly simple matter: they've got security tape of him shooting up the Safeway. This would be one of those deals where the only question on the jury's mind would be, do we want to have lunch before we bring in our verdict?

Methinks he won't last in Prison. Inmates don't take well to child killers. He'll end up in a loony bin somewhere on our dime for the rest of his life.

It's hard to know for sure, but an Arizona jury's gonna want to juice him for the little girl.
