I mean, it does seem pretty pointless to cancel the presidential primary and still hold the state-level primaries. Especially when Cuomo made Covid a reason for requesting an absentee ballot.

Not sure I'm following. The presidential primary is now uncontested when Sanders dropped and endorsed Biden. Presumably the state level primaries have multiple candidates vying for the nomination. If they do not then yes that should be cancelled as well.

The presidential primary is also how delegates at the convention which set the official party platform are chosen. By cancelling the primary altogether, it deprives Sanders the opportunity to get enough delegates to get a seat at the table.

Also, you know, if you're holding an election anyway, why cancel just one race? We did give the GOP crap for doing the same thing in several states (granted, it was technically contested at that point with 2 others running against Trump, but the principle remains the same).

Because just because they think he can win doesnt mean they think he should be the nominee. 68% of the same respondents said Biden would win. Bloomberg got 69%.

All the poll is saying is that any of the major candidates (according to Democrats and Dem leanings that happened to be polled) should have a good shot. Even Warren and Mayor Pete did well. The Left thinks they are going to win.

Not relitigating, just ****ed some Sanders voters didn’t show up. Also find the stats interesting.

At least he’s honest enough to state unequivocally the country isn’t prepared for what he’s got in mind. I’m doubting he’ll go for the Green Party nomination.

Sanders will get his delegates regardless. NY is the worst hit state by far in the nation due to the virus. From what I've read some 20+ counties out of maybe 60 or so in NY only had the presidential primary to vote for as there were no down ballot contests so those people can now stay home. Not the end of the world that they did this.

BTW - I know many out here don't like Andrew Cuomo, but would you have preferred to have Cynthia Nixon running the state right now?

BREAKING: Former Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang has filed a lawsuit in federal court against New York over the state canceling its Democratic presidential primary, asserting that the move “denies voters due process and denies voters the right to vote."

Honestly though. New York shouldn’t cancel the primary. They should postpone and mail out ballots.
