Democratic Challengers: Starting this thread to Own The Libs!

Re: Democratic Challengers: Starting this thread to Own The Libs!

No it's not.

Let's assume a small town mayoral race with 4 voters. 2 people vote for X. 1 person votes for Y. You are the last vote. Your candidate rankings are Z>Y>X.

If you vote for Z, X wins.

If you vote for Y, you force a tie.

By voting Z even though he cannot win, you give X the win even though he is your least favorite candidate.

This is game theory 101. The moderate wing of the Democratic Party learned its lesson from the GOP in 2016 and consolidated before it was too late.

If you're too principled to see that, then we can't change your mind, but you're still wrong.

Re: Democratic Challengers: Starting this thread to Own The Libs!

What seems obvious to me is that the people who tell me (for example), "A VOTE FOR SO-AND-SO IS JUST THE SAME AS A VOTE FOR HILLARY" are assuming my rank of preference. If you don't have access to my rank of preference, you're just projecting who YOU wish I would vote for onto MY vote. That's not math, it's wishful thinking. I advise everyone with a brain to never use that stupid phrase again.

In fairness, if you're a Jill Stein or Ralph Nader voter who would've otherwise voted for Trump over Hillary or Dubya over Gore, then you're likely clinically insane and should be checked out by licensed mental health provider.

Why'd you vote for Stein?
Hillary wasn't liberal enough for me.
Who would you have voted for in a 2-person race if forced?
Trump.

Yeah, I'm comfortable assuming that wouldn't happen in any statistically significant amount.

It all depends on who the person would have voted for if the third party hadn’t been in the race. It’s almost like you need them to indicate their relative preference for each candidate so you get a complete picture all at once. If only there were some system where people had to indicate their preferences, 1 through N, for each candidate then we could resolve this....

“Yes, yes, we know you like little Ralphie Nader. Setting that aside, who do you prefer between the real candidates?”

But that's never how it works. It's always Trump voters telling me I can't vote for a conservative and (on the intertubes) Biden voters telling me not to vote for a liberal.

I believe this explains the disconnect 100% correctly. Thank you

I’m gonna go ahead and wager Obama’s team was fairly thorough

“ Democratic strategist David Axelrod, a former top aide for President Obama's two campaigns, said that Obama's team didn't find any claims of sexual misconduct against Joe Biden during "a deep-dive investigation" into potential running mates.

“Had any credible issue been raised, you can be sure Biden would not have been the nominee,” Axelrod said. “Obama would not have tolerated it, even if he and Biden were close then, which they were not.”

Just playing devil’s advocate, that was still years away from women feeling like they could come forward in the metoo era.

Sure, but she claims she filed an official report with HR. If she had, it should have been easily discoverable.

Unless Obama's vetting processes were even less competent than Trump's.

That’s the thing. I think Obama’s process would have tried to turn up everything. The black man couldn’t take chances

“I request that you take or direct whatever steps are necessary to establish the location of the records of this Office, and once they have been located, to direct a search for the alleged complaint and to make public the results of this search,” Biden wrote in a letter to Julie Adams, the secretary of the Senate.

“I would ask that the public release include not only a complaint if one exists, but any and all other documents in the records that relate to the allegation,” he added.

This is how a person who is most likely innocent acts.

Or, to be fair, who has already covered his tracks.

His is how it should be..... brought to light, investigated, and cleared.

Bingo

Re: Democratic Challengers: Starting this thread to Own The Libs!

I know Kepler isnt going to believe this, and I dont blame him, but in this case the call is coming from inside the house. Some of the former mouthpieces have been trying to get Bernie to reconsider and have been desperately trying to find a way to discredit Biden to the point of needing to be challenged. This has been building since Super Tuesday. If trix was still posting here he would be all over this.

Let this be a lesson to the next (and better) Progressive/Far Left candidate...make sure the people you associate with and who you allow to speak on your behalf no when to throw in the towel.

Re: Democratic Challengers: Starting this thread to Own The Libs!

Speaking of trix, I really do hope the guy is OK.

Fortunately, it feels like Briahna Joy Gray had her 15 minutes and Bernie shut it down when he said she no longer worked for him or represented his opinions.

The narrative is such that, if four of your advisors are on board and one throws a nutter, the nutter is indicative of the whole election team.

The media's concentration on the outliers is predictable and rational behavior. First, controversy and discord get more clicks than boring old day to day agreement and concord. Second, in the case of a serious Left candidate, it's all hands on deck to make sure the movement is discredited to protect the status quo.

If you have ever been a subject matter expert in something which suddenly gets media coverage you know the media not only rarely gets it right, but also that they exaggerate drama and fixate on weird, non-representative details and events. Their job, even if they have the best intentions, is to tell an entertaining story to hold their audience. This gives a false impression which you, as somebody with background, can immediately detect. But the vast majority of the audience goes away with the false impression in their mind. Then, when they talk to each other and find it is a shared impression, it becomes "truthiness."
