Losing Peter O'Toole really saddens me. The Lion in Winter is one of my all time favorites, as is Lawrence of Arabia. I said to my wife that he certainly got his money's worth out of life, and it occurred to me that he probably got a few other folks money's worth too. Geez he lived hard for a lot of years. A great man.

Surprised this isn't already posted. Al Goldstein, porn pioneer. That makes two porn legends (Harry Reems the other) in the past year or so.

Another fun view in the BUD days was Dr.(?) Gene Scott who would sit in front of the camera smoking a cigar and pontificate on the Bible. Then we'd see him riding horses or in front of a whiteboard drawing all sorts of stuff proving that it rained for 39 days, not 40 during the Great Flood.
Great entertainment. Beat the heck out of today's reality shows.
He used to have a rant show on satellite (Big Ugly Dish days). IIRC he would end the show flipping the bird.

Praying for Schu. It sounds like what happened to Natasha Richardson. She wasn't wearing a helmet when she fell at Mt. Tremblant in 2009.

The helmet thing, IMO, is debateable. I started wearing one this season, but I think they may just encourage people my age or younger to push themselves even further on the slopes, and onto runs they're not ready for. Helmet or not, there's already a fair amount of assumed risk once you're in any area with trees, cliffs, and exposed rocks.
