Yeah, his music was over the top theatrical and bombastic, and a little pretentious, but at his best, also really catchy.

I think it was always with tongue firmly planted in cheek. The more overblown the funnier.

What if Geddy Lee had a sense of humor?
 
I don't know if he meant it to be funny. But he just came from an operatic, theatrical approach to his music and said, " this is how I'm gonna do it, like it or not".

But, as you say, the over the top bombast was the point

Would be very impressed if you find a picture with JFK. A very long time ago (in the 60's I believe) I got to see her and Blaze Starr at an autograph signing. I think I might still have the pictures they each signed along with one from another time with Gypsy Rose Lee.

There was that one time he did "Take Off"(ten bucks is ten bucks) on Bob & Doug McKenzie's Great White North album. It was in the hit single section.

I was rather lucky in my choice of parents (lol). They were incredibly tolerant of almost anything I did. Very much traditional lower middle class upbringing. My dad simply believed that you should be exposed as a child growing up to pretty much anything that was not too dangerous or too illegal.
