Only 77? I'd have guessed he was in his 90s!

That was almost exactly my thought. My first thought was surprise that he'd still been alive, but then like you I had to look to see how old he was. He seemed old when I saw him play in the mid-1970's. Probably the bald head.

Yeah, I always thought he and Lemon were the deans of that 70s team which was all over teevee (even in cartoons from 70-73). And since those clown prince traveling guys play well into their 50s I figured it was like that.

Curly was 10 years younger than Meadowlark, 15 years younger than Geese, and 17 younger than Bobby Joe Mason. So he was actually young for that squad. Huh.

Jimmy Wynn, the Toy Cannon, 78.

Man, could he hit bombs.

I saw that team in 72 or 73 at Shea. Roger Metzger made two plays at short that are the finest I ever saw. Their OF was Watson-Cedeno-Wynn all in their prime (Mike Easler was a bench player!) and they still sucked.
