A local long-time Detroit rock station (101.1-WRIF, for those from around here) reported this morning that he was checked on after the show, either by his manager or a friend. They had to force their way into his room. They found him in the bathroom, with something around his neck.

They were talking about this shortly before 8 AM, so grain of salt where necessary.

That's a little harsh. Arm surely isn't more talented than Vedder is, or Cornell and Staley were; he and the boys are just much more self-aware. Mudhoney is basically "If the Stooges and Blue Cheer got really drunk and had a kid".
